Roape Maker aged thirty eight yeares or thereabouts a<br />
wittnesse sworne and examined saith and deposeth as<br />
followeth videlicet./
To the first article of the sayd allegation hee saith that hee this deponent was<br />
one of the Company of the ''Owners Adventure'' for the voyage in question<br />
and hyred by the arlate Thomas damerell to goe the same and saith the<br />
voyage was a Greeneland voyage for fishing for whales and the sayd damerell<br />
went Master of her that voyage and the arlate Gosling and Maundrie were<br />
his two mates of her the sayd voyage but who shipped them for mates hee<br />
knoweth not And further cannnot depose/
To the 2 hee saith hee cannot depose for that hee heard not any such order or direction<br />
as is arlate given to the sayd damerell by the arlate Batson Beane and the<br />
rest of the Imployers of the ''Owners Adventure'' nor sawe any order or direction<br />
in writing to that effect./
To the third hee saith that upon or about the second of June last 1656<br />
the arlate Gosling Maundrie this deponent and the rest of the Company of<br />
the ''Owners Adventure'' brought the sayd shipp within about three or<br />
fower leagues of Bell Point and the Port then boare North east<br />
of the sayd shipp, and the sayd shipp being there the sayd damerell<br />
went on board of the shipp named the ''Adventure of Hill'' whereof the arlate John<br />
Pybus was Master, and stayed aboard her three watches which is<br />
about twelve howers, and that not longe after the sayd damerell soe went on<br />
board the sayd Pybus his shipp, the sayd Pybus his shipp sett sayle with<br />
the sayd damerell in her, and went off to sea wards and from wards the<br />
Port, and in the tyme damerell stayed aboard her went soe off fromwards the<br />
Port about tenn leagues, and the arlate Maundrie and Gosling and the<br />
rest of the ''Owners Adventure'' followed the sayd Pybus his shipp<br />
the sayd tenn leagues before the sayd damerell returned aboard the<br />
''Owners Adventure'', where as the sayd Gosling Maundrey this deponent<br />
