Transcription to the time of the said Rescue, the said sto the time of the said Rescue, the said shipp and lading were in the possession<br /> of an Irish man of warr or pirate pretending a Commission from the kinge<br /> of Scotland, who had taken her about 9 or tenn of the clock of the same day,<br /> and had had her only five or six houres in his possession, and had taken<br /> this deponent and three men more of his company out of her, and had<br /> left only foure men and a boy aboard as prisoners, And<br /> otherwise hee cannot depose. To the third Interrogatorie hee saith and deposeth that the said pirate<br /> was endeavouring to carry the said vessell and lading to Jersey when hee<br /> had taken them, but the said Captaine Clarke lying in the Roade<br /> of haver da Grace and seeing the said man of warr take the said vessell<br /> and another boyer that was in her company, hee made saile after<br /> and rescued them as aforesaid, the said pirate then flying for Jersey.<br /> And otherwise referring himselfe to his foregoeing deposition hee cannot depose.
