William Otter (b. ca. 1624; d. ?). Mariner.
Master of the coal ship the Providence of Boston in Lincolnshire.
Evidence from High Court of Admiralty
Thirty-two year old William Otter deposed on December 22nd 1656 in the High Court of Admiralty. He was examined on a libel on behalf of Thomas Lawe and William Cooper in the cause of "Thomas Lawe Wm Cooper and company owners of the Providence of Boston against a certaine shipp called the Samuell of London whereof William Lee is Master and against the sayd Lee in particular and all others in generall".[1]
The ship the Providence of Boston in Lincolnshire was sunk at sea after a collision with another coal ship, the Samuel of London.
