2. William Lee of London Merchant aged 28
3. yeeres or thereabouts sworne before the right
4. ˹worshippfull Charles George Cock Esquire˺ ˹John Godolphin doctor of lawes˺ one of
5. the Judges of the high Court of the Admiraltie of
6. England, and exámined upon certaine Interrogatories
7. ministred on the behalfe of Nicholas Warren
8. John Báncke, John Jermyn, George Toriano,
9. Richard Westcombe, Walter Tuckfeild, William
10. Lee, George Lee and George Webber saith and
11. deposeth as followeth videlicet.
12. To the first Interrogatorie hee saith hee well knoweth the interrogated
13. Nicholas Warren, John Bancks, John Germyn, George Toriano,
14. Richard Westcombe, Walter Tuckfeild, William Lee, George Lee and
15. George Webber, who hee saith were and are all English men merchants
16. and suiects of this Commonwealth of England, and for such commonly
17. áccounted.
18. To the second and third Interrogatories hee saith and the schedule ánnexed hee
19. saith and deposeth that in the yeere 1655 and when the warr brake out
20. betweene England and Spaine, the said Nicholas Warren and other persons
21. aforenamed had in company all the ˹in wines and other˺ goods wares merchandizes and effects
22. schedulated, (amounting to the severall summes of money therein comprized)
23. at and in the Islands of the Canaries; all which hee saith were seized
24. on by the officers of the king of Spaine upon the said warr breaking
25. out in or about the moneth of October 1655, and by the said Nicholas
26. Warren and ˹other persons˺ company aforesaid the owners thereof utterly devested ˹and dispoiled˺ of
27. the same, to their losse as in the said schedule is mentioned, amounting in all and dámmage to the summe of five thousand
28. nine hundred, ninetie three pounds, eight shillings anad one penny
29. sterling; being in Spanish money two hundred thirtie nine thousand
30. seaven hundred thirty six Rialls, as in the foote of the said account or
31. schedule appeareth, which losse they really and immediately sustained
32. by the said seizure, besides the profitt the said goods and effects might have
33. produced being invested in goods of that place and laden for England.
34. All which hee knoweth being then factor (with his contest George Webber)
35. for the said company at the said Ilands. and possessed of the said goods
