On the behalfe of Nichola Warren and}<br /> others touching losses by the Spaniards} '''1''' '''William Lee''' of London Merchant aged 28<br /> yeeres or thereabouts sworne before the right<br /> worshippfull Charles George Cock Esquire John Godolphin doctor of lawes one of<br /> the Judges of the high Court of the Admiraltie of<br /> England, and exámined upon certaine Interrogatories<br /> ministred on the behalfe of Nicholas Warren<br /> John Báncks, John Jermyn, George Toriano,<br /> Richard Westcombe, Walter Tuckfeild, William<br /> Lee, George Lee and George Webber saith and<br /> deposeth as followeth videlicet. To the first Interrogatorie hee saith hee well knoweth the interrogated<br /> Nicholas Warren, John Bancks, John Germyn, George Toriano,<br /> Richard Westcombe, Walter Tuckfeild, William Lee, George Lee and<br /> George Webber, who hee saith were and are all English men merchants<br /> and suiects of this Commonwealth of England, and for such commonly<br /> áccounted. To the second and third Interrogatories hee saith and the schedule ánnexed hee<br /> saith and deposeth that in the yeere 1655 and when the warr brake out<br /> betweene England and Spaine, the said Nicholas Warren and other persons<br /> aforenamed had in wines and other goods wares merchandizes and effects<br /> schedulated, (amounting to the severall summes of money therein comprized)<br /> at and in the Islands of the Canaries; all which hee saith were seized<br /> on by the officers of the king of Spaine upon the said warr breaking<br /> out in or about the moneth of October 1655, and by the said Nicholas<br /> Warren and other persons company aforesaid the owners thereof utterly devasted and dispoiled of<br /> the same, to their losse as in the said schedule is mentioned, amounting in all to the summe of five thousand<br /> nine hundred, ninetie three pounds, eight shillings anad one penny<br /> sterling; being in Spanish money two hundred thirtie nine thousand<br /> seaven hundred thirty six Rialls, as in the foote of the said account or<br /> schedule appeareth, which losse they really and immediately sustained<br /> by the said seizure, besides the profitt the said goods and effects might have<br /> produced being invested in goods of that place and laden for England.<br /> All which hee knoweth being then factor (with his contest George Webber)<br /> for the said company at the said Ilands.
