1. part thereof, and saith hee keepeth the linnens in question only till
2. hee may see the matter decided to whome of right they doe belonge
3. that soe hee may deliver XXXX the same to them have right thereto and
4. by that meanes receive his freight for the same and be legally discharged
5. of the sayd linnens which hee conceiveth hee cannot otherwise bee having
6. as aforesayd signed and delivered bills of ladeing for the sayd Linnen and
7. delivered the same ˹bills˺ to the sayd Trenchpaine, alsoe signed the noate
8. before mentioned to the sayd de Richards touching the same linnens./

George Pawlett of London Marchant aged twenty five years
or thereabouts a wittnes sworne and examined
saith and deposeth as followeth videlicet./

18. To the sixth article of the sayd allegation and the schedule therein
19. mentioned hee saith that hee this deponent hath very well knowne
20. the arlate ffrancis Trenchpaine the yonger for these five or six yeares
21. last past, and within that tyme hath has frequent correspondance with
22. him in merchandizing affayres, and receaved divers letters from
23. him and seene him write divers tymes, and thereby is well acquainted
24. with his handwriting, and doth by virtue of his oath declare that
25. hee verily beleeveth and is persuaded in his conscience that the schedule
26. arlate now shewed unto him this deponent and by him seriously
27. perused and observed at the tyme of this his examination was and
28. is all of it the proper hand writing of the sayd ffrancis Trenchpaine
29. Junior And further to this article hee cannot depose./

30. To the rest of the articles hee is not examined by direction of the producents
31. proctor./

33. To the first hee saith hee cometh to testifie in this cause being required
34. soo to doe by Master Robert Bowden in behalfe of the producent de Richards
35. and saith hee hath receaved nothing for his testimony therein nor expecteth any
36. thing And to the rest of the Interrogatorie hee answereth negatively.

37. To the 2 hee cannot depose not knowing anything touching the matter
38. Interrogate./

39. To the 3 hee saith hee hath lately within these two moneths last past
40. seene a bill of ladeing in the hands of the Interrogate John Tufton
41. XXXXX and signed (as his beleeveth) with this the hand of the Interrogate
42. Robert Bowden wherein expressed ˹to this effect videlicet˺ that the linnen in question
43. being three bales or fardles CSG: appears to be "fardles" were laden aboard the sayd Bowdens shipp the
44. Morlaix Merchant by the Interrogate Trenchpaine for the riske and
45. Accompt of the Interrogate Lewis de Xormdaux to behansyerted CSG be transported to
46. London and then delivered to the sayd John Tufton And further to this
47. Interrogatorie hee cannot depose/
