Abstract & context
Stephen Flower wrote this letter to Sir George Oxenden from Gombroon. Much of his letter concerned local politics and Flower's speculations about developments.
There was considerable competition and friction with the Dutch, and the accompanying package of wine sent by Flower to Oxenden in Surat was been marked by Flower with Armenian characters, in the hope that this would better secure the wine if examined by the Dutch.

Refers to the Jannazoin and the Shawbund, and the Caune’s wife being brought of bed a sinn, leading to the great guns of the fort being shot off.
English ships are requested back to pirt and there is a powe rbattle.
Flower anticipates that the Caun may be disgraced, lose his place, "if not his head." Refers to Tho. Norkoda offereing to carry letters to Suart, but Flowers does not fully trust him. "

Sending wine to GO "they are marked as in the Marg:t with Arminnian Characters as are the rest for their better security in case should be examined by the Dutch, and to prevent their further search either for goods or lrs:"
