Biographical synthesis

Robert Rickman (b.ca.1622; d.?1657). Citizen and Fishmonger.

Resident in the parish of Saint Botolph Billingsgate in 1653.

His will was proved in 1657, recording him as a fishmonger of Saint Botolph Billingsgate.[1]

Evidence from High Court of Admiralty

Robert Rickman, a thirty-one year old fishmonger, deposed in the High Court of Admiralty on July 7th 1653. He was examined on an allegation on behalf of Richard Thompson in the case "Thompson against one halfe part of the Love of London her tackle and furniture belonging to John Solomon of Bridges in fflanders and against the sayd John Solomon in speciall and all others in generall."[2]

Rickman deposed later in the same year, on November 8th 1653, "Touching the perishablensse of the lemmons and oranges aboard the shipp the Saint Peter Daniel Straetman master lying at Dover and brought in thither by (BLANK IN MANUSCRIPT)"[3]
