- Go into edit mode
- Insert immediately after the sentence or phrase you wish to annotate the following macro:<ref>This is the footnote text</ref>
- Replace 'This is the footnote text' with the footnote you wish to add, using the format: first name, surname, title, (place of publication, date of publication), page or folio number
- Save the page

this rendent hath been desired to
pay for one halfe, or moyety of the
freight arlate, and that for iust
causes, and reasons this rendent hath
denied, and refused to pay the same
and for the [?rest/?cost] mentioned in this
article this rendent referreth himselfe
to the records of this Court, and
otherwise he doth not beleeve the said
pretensed position to bee true in any parte
thereof/
To the 15th pretensed position this rendent
answereth, that for his parte he doth
not beleeve the same to bee true in
any parte thereof/
To the last he beleeveth the thinges by
him beleeved, and denieth the thinges
by him denied/
