  • Replace 'This is the footnote text' with the footnote you wish to add, using the format: first name, surname, title, (place of publication, date of publication), page or folio number
  • Save the page

was the reason that shee carried noe more goodes
and hee heard some of her Comany say that
iff it had not bin for the matts that shee
laded , a greare deale of the goodes had bin
damnyfiedin her holde by water
wich came off of her decke, And this
hee affirmeth uppon his oath to bee true
Et alr nescit./

Ad 8um nescit deponere alr qua [?prius] Saveing
that the factor of the said Bladewell did
lade aboard the said shippe a greate
quantity of matts and roapes./

Ad 9ym affirmat That Matts and roapes are
goodes of small value, and hee beleeveth that
if the said shippe could have taken in other
goodes of a greater bulcke, that the said
Bladewells factor would not have laded
soe many matts and roapes as hee did being
goodes that take upp but a small roome
and seldome r never sent home to pay freight
as other goodes; Et alr nescit; Saveing
that hee beleeveth that the said Bladewell
is damnyfied thirty or forty poundes
stelinge by the ladeing of the said
Matts and roapes, for that in stead of them
shee might have taken tenn or
fifteene truncs of other Russia goodes
which woulde have yeelded freighte
three poundes a tonne

William Bladewell and his assignes about the
middle of August last did lade aboard the said
shippe the Centurion in the river of Archangell
such a quantity and soe many goodes as the
said shippe by the Masters relation in this
examinates heareing could conveniently
carry over the barr at Archangell, and about
the tyme aforesaide the said Bladewells
factor in this examinates heareinge did will and
require the Master pf the said shippe to depart
and sett saile over the barr, and the said
factor tolde the Master that hee had sent a
[?lodde] with more goodesover the barr
and that hee would send more [?loadyes]
to lade her fully when shee came over the barr
