  • Replace 'This is the footnote text' with the footnote you wish to add, using the format: first name, surname, title, (place of publication, date of publication), page or folio number
  • Save the page

Transcription

To the second hee saith hee can speake noe language but English
and a little broken dutch, and that the master and such of the
company as this deponent had speech and treatie with, spoke
broken English, soe as this deponent and they well understood each
other, and thatone White the Lieutenant of Captaine Jackson and
one Trump master of the man of warr, and one hopkins one of his
mariners were present at all the said passages and discourse with
the master and company of the Charitie, which happened on the
day of the seizure off dungenesse where they met with the Charitie
And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the third hee answereth megatively to all parts thereof
saving as aforesaid, and saving that the said Smith was allsoe one
of the Quarter masters of the man of warr, as this deponent
was.

To the last negatively.
