Transcription

On the thirteenth day of August 1655. [CENTRE HEADING]

The clayme of Joseph Perera of}
Amsterdam for his goods laden aboard}
the shipp the Orange Tree (whereof}
Ryer Cornelison is Master) taken}
by some of the shipps in the immediate}
service of the Commonwealth}
Budd ffrancklin}

Upon the articulate allegation given
and admitted on the behalfe of the
sayd Joseph Perera.

London Merchant, where he hath
lived and in London about 20ty yeares
aged about 56 yeares, a wittnes produced
and sworne and being examined he
deposeth as followeth.

To the first article of the sayd allegation he deposeth and saith
That he hath knowne the arlate Joseph Perera the producent for
about theise fower yeares last past, and that for all that time he
hath dwellt at Amsterdam in holland, and that for all that
time he saith he hath knowne that the arlate Antonio Rodriguez
de Morais hath bin the Agent, factor or Correspondent at
Roane of the said Perera, And he alsoe saith that the said Perera
did by a Letter bearing date in January or ffebruary last past
advise this deponent that a holland shipp, but the name of her he knoweth not the
lying and being either at Roane or haver de grace in ffrance was
to be there freighted for his Accompt by the said de Morais
his Agent, and to goe from thence to Porta Port in Portugall
and there to lade Oyles (the Pirces of which were very high in
ffrance and therefore as his Letter advised would be a good [?XXX]
there) and other goods and to carry the same to ffrance, and
he alsoe deposeth that by the said Letter he was desirous to
have this deponent goe ashare in the said Cargazon of [?XXX]
