for the same videlicet for goates woolls (which pay the same freight
that Cotton wooll doe) 12 li per tonne sterling, for galls eight pounds
sterling per tonne, and for fine goods fourteeene pounds sterling per tonne
and saith that those were the usuall and ordinarie freights for the like
goods from Porta fferrari and ligorne to London within that space of time
and this deponent himselfe is to [?XXXX] after that rate for goods brought thence
in the dart frigot for the account of him and company. And saith that
all men for such goods of the foresaid kindes brought hence in the
hope paid and after to pay the rate aforesaid, and as hee hath [?mentioned] were accordingly to pay forthe
goods brought hence in the dart frigot. And otherwise hee cannot

Upon the rest of the articles of this allegation hee is not examined by the
direction of the producent.

Upon the allegation of 45 articles (having severall
schedules annexed) given in on the behalfe of the
said Alderman ffrederick and company. [CENTRE HEADING]

To the fourth article of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth that
hee knoweth not whether there hath bin a custome at Cyprus and
Scanderone by which all goods that are laden aboard shipps, ought to be
delivered by weight, but saith that the masters or pursers
may if they please receive them and see them weighed, being (as hee saith they
are) bound by custome to make deliverie according to the weights mentioned
in the bills of lading, or (for want of such weight expressed in the bills) according to the
factors Invoice. And this hee saith was and is publique and
notorious, and well knowne to all merchants trading to those parts
from London. And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the 6th hee saith that each kintall maketh one hundred Rotolo's,
that (by usuall computation) every Rotolo is foure pounds
and thirteene ounces Avoir du pois English weight, soe that two
hundred fiftie two kintalls and fourtie foure kintalls and the six
and twenty and eight Rotolos and making thirtie foure Rotolo's
the whole number of kintalls mentioned in the two bills of lading
arlate nowe shwed unto him and remayning on the [?file] annexed to the libell) amount to 296 kintalls and 34 Rotolo's

To the 7th article, hee saith and deposeth that by usuall computation
296 kintalls and 34 Rotolo's of Cyprus Cotton woolls make English
weight one hundred fourtie two thousand six hundred and thirteene pounds
and tenn ounces, And otherwise referring himselfe to the said bills of
lading, hee cannot

To the 8th article hee saith that hee hath perused the bills of lading
and Invoices arlate and findeth them to containe soe many sacks or
baggs of galls, and that the neate Turkish weight therein expressed amounteth
in the Rotolo's, as in the said article is expressed, soe that the 470
baggs of galls arlate contained thirtie thousand three hundred and
ninetie Rotolo's, referring himselfe to the said bills and Invoices,
And otherwise hee cannot depose.
