Transcription

deponent being Master and Commannder of the vessell or ffriggat called the
White Swan of hamborough, and lying for about a moneth ogether
with his this deponents friggat board and board with the said shipp Saint George in
the said roade of Cadiz, and saith hee this deponent with his said Vessell
the Swan departed from Cadiz leaving the said shipp the Saint George receiving on
her lading there, And deposeth, That during this deponents residence at Cadiz
in the yeare as aforesaid hee never heard any common voyce, report or rumour
that the said shipp Saint George was with her then lading designed for any
other place then Ostend or dunquirke in fflanders neither did hee then
and there or at any time before or since ever heare any credible report
or fame that the said shipp the Saint George did belong unto Amsterdam
or any inhabityants there or subject or subjects or the States of the United
Netherlands, neither that shee was then bound or designed for Amsterdam.
And further hee cannot depose./

To the last hee saith his foregoeing deposition is true./

To the Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING]

To the first hee saith hee is a hamburgher by birth, and education, and
hath had his fixed residence there from his infancie, And saith hee never
had any part or share in the shipp the Saint George interrate, nor any relation of
kindred or service and to the said John Martens dorpe nor to any of the Owners
of the shipp interrate:-

To the second hee saith hee is a Mariner by profession, and hath for all the time
interrate, as is predeposed, had his settled place of aboade at Hamburgh and saith hee
hath in the time interrate been onely once at Amsterdam in the yeare 1653. last past where hee then remained
for about eight daies, and saith That within the time interrate this deponent never
saw the said shipp at either of the places interrate.

To the third hee saith, That the name of the Master shippwright , who built the
said shipp the Saint George was Joachim Moller a Citizen of hamburgh, but
remembreth not the names of his the said Mollers servants and assistants therein
neither did this rendent ever see any moneys payd for or towards the building of
the said shipp./:-

To the 4th hee saith hee this rendent doeth not know, nor hath ever heard
that any Amsterdammer or other subject or subjects of the States of the
United Netherlands have caused any shipp or shipps to be built at hamborough
for such the said hollanders use or accompt./:-

To the 5th hee saith, That hee this rendent was, as aforesaid, at Cadiz
interrate in the yeare 1652. arlate, and came thither three times in that
yeare, and saith the last time in that yeare, that this rendent was therem was
about the beginning of the moneth of September, and departed thence
in the moneth of October then next ensuing./
