master of the ship arlate and soe continue … master of the ship arlate and soe continued master<br />
of the said ship from the 20th of May 1649<br />
or thereabouts untill the 16th of March 1651<br />
or thereabouts beinge appointed Master of the said<br />
ship by the arlate Rowland Wilson John Wood, and one<br />
Thomas Walter beinge the Guinney company<br />
and that for such hee this rendent was dureinge<br />
the said time (as hee beleeveth) Commonly accompted<br />
and otherwise hee doth not beleeve this pretensed<br />
position to be true in any part thereof./
To the second pretensed position hee answereth that<br />
this rendent beinge appointed master of the ship<br />
arlate for a voyage to be made with the ship<br />
arlate from this Port of London to the Barbadoes<br />
Antego Monserratte and Saint Christophers<br />
and from thence to Santa Crux, and from<br />
thence to Guiney ad from Guiney to Santa Cruz<br />
againe and to some other places did uppon or<br />
about the 27th of June 1649. set saile with<br />
the said ship from Gravesend uppon the said<br />
intended voyage and about a day or two next<br />
before the day in which hee sett saile as aforesaid<br />
there was a paper or schedule of the tenor<br />
of the schedule annexed to this Libell brought<br />
and delivered unto him this rendent aboard<br />
the said ship the ''Jonathan'' then lyeinge att<br />
Gravesend arlate and hee beleeveth<br />
that hee this rendent befoe the sendinge<br />
of the said Schedule arlate was mastergt;
