Transcription the said goods claimed came out of Persia,the said goods claimed came out of Persia, because hee this deponent was<br /> at Smyrna when the Caravan consisting of 350 camells, wherein the said goods<br /> were brought over land came and arived at Smyrna and sawe that the said<br /> goods came in the said Caravan, and otherwise saving his foregoeing deposition<br /> hee cannot depose. To the sixth Interrogatorie hee saith and deposeth that all the said three claimers<br /> came alonge with the said Caravan from Persia to Smyrna, this deponent<br /> seeing there arivall there, and seeing them bringe the said goods in the said<br /> Caravan, and have them in their possession, and well knoweth that they came<br /> not out of the ffrench factorie at Smyrna nor were bought there, nore<br /> laden by ffrench men or any belonging to the said ffactorie, and well<br /> knoweth that the said claimers bore and ran the hazard and adventure of the said goods<br /> claimed from Smyrna to Ligorne, but the shipp being ffrench, the ffrench<br /> ran the hazard thereof. To the seventh article (sic) hee saith that hee sawe the said Captaine Andris signe<br /> the said bills of lading in the house aforesaid, the said Captaine sitting<br /> on one side of the table when hee did the same, and this deponent sitting<br /> on the other side and looking on him, and saith the said Captaine signed<br /> two bills of lading of one tenor for the goods aforesaid of each of the said claimers<br /> of which the said claimers left one a peece at Smyrna, to the end that<br /> if the other which they brought along with them should miscarry, they<br /> might send for and have the duplicate or other bill soe left at<br /> Smyrna, and hee did not see nor knoweth and his conscience beleeveth<br /> and thereupon durst [pXXXXX] his [?soule] that the said claimers nor any of them<br /> did not signe or give any writing or promise to the interrogated Michael<br /> Andris the fore siad Captaine to pay him for the said goods at Ligorne as is<br /> interrogated if they were safely delivered to them there, nor that<br /> they were to pay any ffrenchman or other there for the same, nor that<br /> there was ought to be paid by them at ligorne or elswhere after the said<br /> lading thereof, saving the meere freight for their transportation<br /> according to the bills of lading, and [?valuation] in the said aforementioned bill?s, And otherwise saving his foregoeing deposition hee cannot<br /> depose./ To the eighth hee saith there were eight of the Parliaments shipps in<br /> the Squadron that tooke the said shipp the ''Saint Martin'' and her lading, and<br /> saith that after the said producents had bin kept aboard about<br /> tenn dayes (as hee remembreth the time) after the said seizure, they were by<br /> Captaine hall sent ashore in a boate at the Ile of ffa[?viniann] neare<br /> Trapany in Scicilia, which hee knoweth being alsoe sent ashore there in<br /> there company, and saith that only the said claimers and this deponent<br /> and the other [?foure] Armenians that are come alonge with them,<br /> and five other Armenian servants and some [?few] Maltese [?merchants] [ARMENIAN SCRIPT IN LH MARGIN, POSSIBLY A SIGNATURE] [XXX XXX XXX] were put ashore in that boate, and the same time the<br /> ffrench aboard were put into another boate to be sent ashore at Malta,<br /> And other wise hee cannot answer saving as aforesaid, [?saving] the names<br /> of the other foure Armenians who came alonge with them are two<br /> other Jacomo's, hogia Ma[?r]co, and hogia kemal, and the<br /> names of the said five servants were hara[XXXX], this deponents servant, harapatur servant to one of the said Jacomo's, Gregorio the servant of<br /> the said hogia Mar[?co], Baltazar the servant of the said S?e]fer, and<br /> herapade the servant of the said kemal, And otherwise hee cannot<br /> answer saving as aforesaid. To the nineth hee saith that since the said time [?of ?their] being put out of<br /> the said shipp as aforesaid this deponent hath not seene the said Captaine<br /> Andris nor any other of the ffrench thereunto belonging, and hee is well<br /> assured that the said claimers the producents nor any of them have alsoe not<br /> seene them, because hee this deponent was alwayes in their the said producents company<br /> after their said departing from the said shipp, nor did they the said<br /> captaine or any other ffrench man or men advise or perswade them to come<br /> for England to claime or persue the restitution of their said goods here in England,<br /> but they came thereabouts of their owne accord, and beare their owne chardges<br /> and expenses with money supplied them at Ligorne by their owne country men<br /> and by their owne country men<br /> and  +
