[CENTRE HEADING] The keepers et cetera against the ''Patriarch''}<br /> ''Jacob'' foresaid} Examined upon the foresaid allegation. '''3.''' '''Hence Meimers''' of Hamborough Mariner aged 43 yeares or<br /> thereabouts, sworne and examined. To the first second and third articles of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth that<br /> about five yeares since hee this deponent upon the exchange in hamborough<br /> was present with Daniel Brandes, John [?Novius]. Adolph Sumpton and<br /> Baselius van Borstell and Claus Colbrand (nowe master of the ''Partriarch''<br /> ''Jacob'' arlate) and heard them conferring together about a shipp the<br /> said persons, Brands, [?Novis], Sumpton and Van Borstell had ordered the said<br /> skipper to build for their accompt in holland and about the chardge and cost thereof,<br /> and heard them say that the cost should be about 10000 gilders for the hull,<br /> and soe much the said skipper Claus Colbrand said was demannded by a<br /> master builder, and the said persons then and there gave the said Claus order<br /> to proceede in the building and buying the said shipp for their accompt who<br /> thereupon departed for holland, and as this deponent hath often heard<br /> caused the said shipp to be built and named her the ''Patriarch Jacob'' and<br /> tooke the commannd of her to the use of the said merchants, who have<br /> ever since bin accompted her owners, and the said shipp hath ever since<br /> bin commonly accompted and said to be a hamburger shipp, and to be<br /> belonging to hamborough, And otherwise hee cannot depose, saving that<br /> the said Claus Colbrand is master of the said shipp at present, which hee<br /> knoweth because hee came from Cadiz this voyage in her company.
