shipp ''dove'' runne upon and broke the shipp ''Successe'' in manner aforesayd And hee<br />
verily beleeveth if the sayd shipp ''dove'' had not mett with that mischance and runne upon<br />
the sayd shipp ''Succcesse'' her bowe would not then have stood in neede of mending And<br />
And (sic) further to this article hee cannot depose./
To the 7th hee saith hee this deponent sawe and well remembreth that the shipp which<br />
fell fowle on the ''Successe'' as aforesayd had when shee soe fell fowle the picture of<br />
an Angell in the head and had in her stearne the appearance of a fowle with white wings<br />
And saith for that the sayd Master of the ''Successe'' and this deponent did at<br />
their commeing to Newcastle view all the shipps there or neere thereabouts and found<br />
noe other shipp then there having such markes as an Angell on the head and a dove on<br />
the stearne, save the ''dove'' in this suite complayned of, hee therefore and for that hee sawe<br />
the sayd shipp the ''doves'' Bowe then dubbed and mendeing and was informed by<br />
divers who sawe her arrivall that shee came in thither upon the 9th or 10th day of<br />
August last (which was a day of two after the ''Successe'' was suncke as aforesayd<br />
hee verily beleeveth and is perswaded in his conscinece that the sayd vessell the ''dove''<br />
in this suite complayned of is the same vessell which did sinke the ''Successe'' as aforesayd<br />
at the place called the Well as aforesayd And further hee cannot depose, saving his<br />
foregoeing deposition
To the 8th hee saith that in his this deponents Judgment the sayd Vessell the at the tyme<br />
of her sinkeing was about 80 tonnes and upwards and was a good tight vessell<br />
and was with her tackle and furniture then worth fower hundred pounds sterling at the least, and<br />
soe much hee hath heard the sayd Owners were offered for her before her goeing from<br />
dover upon the voyage in question And hee also beleeveth that the Coales were on board her when<br />
shee soe sancke would have yeilded if they had come safe to dover an hundred<br />
pounds of like money And hee saith that there were in the sayd shipp when shee<br />
sunke seaven fferkins of butter belonging to the Master and Company thereof and<br />
some Salmon [?sXXXX] and some drye and Cloaths and sea Instruments belonging to the<br />
Master and Company of the sayd shipp ''Successe'' (which consisted of fower men and a<br />
boy besides the sayd master) which butter, salmon Cloathes and Instruments were well<br />
worth at the tyme when the sayd shipp soe sunke twenty pounds of like money at<br />
the least And further to this article hee cannot depose/
To the 9th and 10th hee cannot depose having heard nothing confessed to the effect arlate<br />
saving what hee hath all ready deposed./
To the 11th hee saith hee referreth him selfe to the Registry of this Court and further<br />
cannot depose./
