To the 7th article of the said Allegation hee saith hee cannot depose, saving that hee<br />
this deponent being at Cyprus when the ''Thomas Bonadventure'' was there upon the<br />
Voiage in Controversy, and the English Convoy under the Commannd of Captaine<br />
Bodiloe being then and there arrived, it was then thought fitt by the Captaine<br />
and Companie of the ''Mary Rose'' wherein this deponent then was, to goe in<br />
Companie with the said Convoy, and this deponent beleeveth that the same was the<br />
Judgement and resolution of all persons who had interest in shipps of goods the<br />
bound thence for England, this deponent then observing nor heaaring any thing<br />
to the contrary:
To the 1st and 5th (sic) article hee saith the arlate shipp the ''dart friggat'' in this deponents sight departed<br />
from Scanderoon bound for Cyprus upon the 10th day of May 1652: and<br />
saith shee was then fully laden and went thence in the ''African ffrigatts''<br />
Companie this deponent then being at Scanderoone and observing such their<br />
departure, and saith That when this deponent in the ''Mary Rose'' arrived from<br />
Scanderoon to Cyprus, the ''dart friggat'' aforesaid was departed thence for<br />
England. And further cannot depose./
To the second hee saith, That hee this deponent coming in the shipp ''Mary Rose''<br />
to Cyprus, and there arriving about the 25th day of May <u>1652.</u>, there<br />
saw and observed that goods and Merchandizes were, from that time till neere<br />
the time of her the ''Thomas Bonadventures'' departure thence, carried aboard her from Cyprus, but<br />
by whose direction or what quantity this deponent knoweth not./
To the fourth hee saith hee doeth not remember neither can hee<br />
depose any thing as to the Contents of this article.
To the 6th hee saith, That this deponent arriving at Cypprus in the ''Mary Rose'' aforesaid<br />
upon or about the 25th day of May aforesaid then and there understood<br />
that Captaine Bodiloe arlate with an English Convoy had been there some<br />
daies before. and was departed from thence for Scanderoone, whence hee<br />
came againe and arrived at Cyprus with the said Convoy in thisd deponents<br />
sight, and was according to generall report there, designed for the security<br />
of English shipps in their passage out of the Straights for England:-
To the 13th hee saith, That at or about the beginning of June <u>1652</u> arlate<br />
the said shipp ''Mary Rose'' wherein this deponent then was, and the ''Richard''<br />
''and William'' Captaine John Wise Commander being laden with<br />
Merchandizes and bound for England, did in this deponents sight and<br />
observation stay and attend to come along with the English Convoy<br />
aforesaid for their better securing from the Enemies of this Commonwealth
To the 14th hee saith, That hee this deponent was present, at Porto Longoone<br />
arlate when the ''Thomas Bonadventure'' arlate was impressed into the<br />
service of this Commonwealth, and saith That at the same time<br />
the said shipp ''Mary Rose'' wherein this deponent was, and another shipp<br />
called the ''William and Thomas'' were also taken up and commannded<br />
into the said service and constrained to unlade the Merchandizes then<br />
respectively aboard them at Porta fferrara of this deponents sight and<br />
