Transcription To the third Interrogatory he answereth thTo the third Interrogatory he answereth that the Boate of Currance<br /> interrate was at the time interrate very neere the shoare, and yet<br /> within shott of the ''Morea Merchant'' though there was noe shott<br /> made at the said boate either by the said shipp, or from any<br /> body on shoare And he saith it was to noe purpose for the<br /> said shipp to have endeavoured the hindring of the taking away of<br /> the said boate of Currance for that the said boate of Currance<br /> being very neere the shoare the servants of the interrate William ffowke came<br /> and a Turkish officer (as he beleiveth)<br /> was then with the said ffowkes servants, and<br /> that upon the command of the sayd Officer and the other people of the<br /> Country then there, those that were putt into the said boate to looke<br /> to the Currance on the behalfe of the producents were turned out<br /> by the sayd ffowke, and the Currance were taken out of the<br /> boate and carryed ashoare, into a Warehouse not farr from the<br /> waterside. And further he cannot answeare To the fourth Interrogatory he answereth that he this Rendent was in<br /> the Towne of Petras when the said boate of Currance was taken<br /> away, and therfore could not see who was at the taking of her [?and]<br /> whether the said ffowke was there in person or not, but he saith that<br /> he this Rendent very well knowing by the former carriage of the<br /> said ffowke concerning the said Currance that it could be noe other<br /> body but himselfe that wrought and brought about the taking<br /> away of the said Currance, he did on the very same day (as he<br /> remembreth) talke with him the sayd ffowke concerning<br /> the taking away of the said Currance, and that he did owe<br /> the said act, saying that he was sorry he did not take away the<br /> rest, And further he cannot answeare. To the fifth he answereth that the said currance was carryed on shoare<br /> to a Warehouse very nigh to the waterside where they were taken, And<br /> further he knoweth not to answeare To the 7th Interrogatory he answereth that the Currance that were in the<br /> boate were about 12000 ''lb'' weight, and that they cost there the<br /> factors of the sayd Tayler and Company two dollars and a<br /> halfe per sacke, besides the charge upon the whole shipp, And he<br /> saith that the sayd Currance were the Currance of Solomon Bashaw<br /> who had the two halfe peeces of scarlett in part for the<br /> sayd Currance And further he cannot answeare To the eight Interrogatory he answereth that the Bashaw interrate was<br /> not the Owner and Proprietor of all the Currance that yeare<br /> in the Morea, but that he being not onely Bashaw, But<br /> alsoe [?harachar] or Tribuner, [Nussullgee] and [?Averesgee], he had<br /> power by vertue of those places to sell and dispose of all the<br /> Currance that yeare in the Morea, And he saith that the sayd<br /> Bashaw told this Rendent that if he would not bargaine with him<br /> for all the Currance, she showld have none, and that [?none of]<br /> the Country people Owners and Proprietors of Vineyards or places<br /> where Currance grow, dare to sell any of their Currance to<br /> any Merchant or factor to be transported without license from<br /> the said Bashaw, And further he cannot answeare. To the ninth he answereth that he beleiveth the Bashaw hath [?XXX]<br /> to graunt severall Licenses to severall persons to buy Currance in<br /> the Morea and to transport them, And to the rest he<br /> answereth negatively.
