Transcription time of the said seizure, and none betweentime of the said seizure, and none betweene decks, which hee knoweth being<br /> one of her company and helping to stowe the said linnens, and being soe<br /> on board at the time of the said seizure, but being only a Common man<br /> hee tooke noe notice of the markes of the said bales, or of their numbers,<br /> And otherwise hee cannot depose saving the said goods were stowed in good<br /> order and condition. To the second hee cannot depose, sayingh hee can neither write nor reade To the third hee saith there were severall fats of hatts really laden aboard<br /> the said shipp the ''Crosse of Jerusalem'' at Saint Malo's, and were soe laden<br /> in and were remayning aboard the said shipp at the time of the said seizure<br /> in her hold and none betwixt decks, and were laden in good order and<br /> well conditioned, which hee knoweth for the reasons aforesaid. To the fourth hee saith that soone after the said seizure the said Captaine<br /> of the ''Three Sisters'' (that made the seizure) and severall of his company<br /> came aboard the ''Crosse of Jerusalem'' and brake open her hold and<br /> tooke out diverse bales of goods, and cases of hatts and other things<br /> and shutt up the master and company of the ''Crosse of Jerusalem''<br /> to the end they should not see what they tooke and carried away, howbeit<br /> this deponent looking through the windowe of the cabbin wherein hee<br /> was shutt, sawe such their taking and carrying away the said goods,<br /> and saith tha they came thrice in one night and twice another<br /> night aboard to purloine and carry away goods as aforesaid. And<br /> saith this deponent afterwards sawe some of the hatts which were<br /> taken away by the said man of warrs company in the custodie of<br /> some of them, and sawe the masters mate of the man of warr weare one<br /> of them upon his head. And otherwise hee cannot depose, not knowing<br /> further the particularities or quantities of the goods soe by them<br /> taken away. To the fifth hee cannot depose. To the Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING] To the first hee referreth himselfe to his foregoing deposition, and saith hee<br /> hath noe interest in the shipp or goods, nor expecteth any proffit by the<br /> recovery of the goods in question.
