three yeares or thereabouts a wittnesse sworne and examined<br />
saith and deposeth as followeth videlicet./
To the first article of the sayd allegation hee saith hee hath knowne the<br />
arlate Antonio Rodrigues Robles for these five yeares last past to bee<br />
a merchant and Inhabitant of the Citty of London and commonly reputed<br />
a Subiect of the Comonwealth of England And by correspondence in the<br />
way of Merchandizing hee hath understood that hee hath bin a Merchant<br />
and Inhabitant thereof for about five yeares next before that and then alsoe<br />
reputed a subiect of the sayd Commonwealth And further hee cannot depose/
To the 2 article of the sayd allegation hee saith that hee hath observed for<br />
these five yeares last past that the sayd Antonio Rodrigues Robles hath<br />
constantly driven a trade from the Island of Canaries to London for<br />
Canarie wines and other merchandizes, and beleeveth to that purpose<br />
hee hath at the Canaries had his factors resident And saith hee hath<br />
observed that the sayd Robles hath yearely during that tyme receaved [?at] this port of London<br />
much wines sometymes three hundred pipes of Canarie wines and some=<br />
tymes more from his factors or Agents in the Canaries which<br />
wines at their delivery heere at this port of London were (as hee<br />
beleeveth receaved as and comonly reputed to be the wynes of the sayd Robles<br />
And further to this article hee cannot depose/
To the 3 article of the sayd allegation hee saith that by severall letters of<br />
Correspondence sent from the factors or Agents of the sayd Robles resident<br />
in the Canaries to the sayd Robles and letters of Correspondence sent<br />
by the sayd Robles to his sayd factors there (which letters hee hath seene)<br />
it doth to this deponent appeare that since the tyme of the warr betwixt<br />
the Commonwealth of England and the King of Spaine the sayd Robles<br />
to avoide the danger of confiscation of his goods hee traded<br />
to the Canaries for (hee being an Inhabitant and Subiect of England and<br />
thereby his goods in danger of confiscation) hath traded to the Canaries<br />
under the fititious name of Adrian Turin by which name hee hath<br />
there hone since the sayd warr, and receaved letters thence from his<br />
factors and sent letters to them againe under that feigned name of<br />
Adrian Turin the better to conceale and secure his trading thither which hee<br />
hath done as this deponent beleeveth for that of his this deponents knowledge<br />
the sayd Robles hath formerly lived in the Canarie Ilands and is<br />
there well knowne by the name of Antonio Rodrigues Robles and is<br />
now knowne there to bee an Inhabitant of London and therefore if<br />
hee should trade thither by the name of Robles his goods hee trades<br />
for would be in great danger of confiscation And further to this<br />
article hee cannot depose./
