And saith that in the said Briggs his reto … And saith that in the said Briggs his retourne from Ireland, hee<br />
was as this deponent hath heard deprived of his said vessell by some<br />
seizure or other accident, but since that time namely for theise three<br />
weekes last hee the said Briggs hath bin and is in the possession<br />
thereof, this deponent seeing him severall times in such possession<br />
as master of her. And otherwise hee cannot depose.

of Sussex Mariner, aged 27 yeares or thereabouts<br />
sworne and exámined.
To the said allegation hee saith hee very well knoweth the<br />
Barke the ''Willing Minde'' allegate whereof Edward Briggs is<br />
Master, and soe hath donne since shee was built, and saith the<br />
producent John humphrey and company (all of Bright Hamson<br />
aforesa{id} caused her to be built at Shoreham about<br />
seaven yeeres since, and defrayed the charges of such her building<br />
paying the Carpenter for her and for all charges thereabouts, this<br />
and receiving a bill of sale of the Carpenter [?XX the maXXX is] which hee knoweth because hee then lived with the said John<br />
Humphrey, and saw such building thereof, and after such her<br />
building and finishing the said producent John Humphrey went<br />
master of her for himselfe for a yeere or a yeere and halfes speace<br />
or thereabouts, and that hee and company put in the said Briggs<br />
master of her, who hee saith is now in possession of her<br />
to the use of the said producent and soe was at the time of the arrest<br />
allegate laid upon her at Bristoll, which hee knoweth being then<br />
at Bristoll and seeing him in such possession. And further<br />
touching the said proprietie, hee saith that the said John<br />
Humphrey and company have from time to time fitted and<br />
furnished out the said vessell on voyages as owners thereof,<br />
and have as owners received freights earned by her of this<br />
deponents knowledge living with the said John Humphrey. And<br />
otherwise hee cannot depose.
