The Claime of Thomas Cowling}<br /> for three pipes of Canary Wines}<br /> taken in the ''Saint Laurence'' Peter}<br /> Bennewysent Master} Budd: ffrancklyn: Examined upon an Allegation<br /> given in on the behalfe of<br /> the said Thomas<br /> Cowling:/: '''d:t Bevin j.us''' '''Robert Bevin''' of London<br /> Merchant aged 36 yeeres or<br /> thereabouts Sworne ad Examined To the first article of the said allegation hee saith and<br /> Deposeth that hee well knoweth the arlate Thomas<br /> Cowling, and soe hath done for theise sixteene yeeres<br /> last or thereabouts And saith hee is an Englishman<br /> and a Subject of this Comonwealth of England<br /> and soe Generally accomted to be: And further<br /> cannot depose./. To the second hee saith that in the moneths of May<br /> June and July 1658: and for many yeeres before<br /> the said Thomas Cowling did live at Teneriffe and<br /> of the Canary Islands as a Merchant stranger, and<br /> not as a Subject of the King of Spaine; and soe hee<br /> is reputed to live there. The premisses hee Deposeth<br /> having knowne the said Producent for the time aforesaid<br /> and bin his Correspondent for about three yeeres last<br /> and further cannot depose./.
