Transcription and saith the said Walker was the Comanderand saith the said Walker was the Comander of the<br /> said ketch, who is as this Deponent beleeveth an<br /> Englishman and saith that one of the said ketches<br /> Company the time Interrate was a Swede, and<br /> some of them, of other Nations, but most of them<br /> were English, but where the fforaigners lived<br /> hee knoweth not but saith that Edward Burton<br /> the Gunner of the said ketch liveth in the Minoryes<br /> and others in other places in England, And saith<br /> hee was Chirurgion of the said ketch, And<br /> further cannot Answer./. To the 2.d hee saith that hee belonged to the said<br /> ketch somewhat above three monethes, and saith<br /> the ''ffortune'' was seized betwixt Calais and Dover<br /> and above three Leagues and a halfe from [?the GUTTER]<br /> English shore, but the time hee remembreth not<br /> And saith the ''ffortune'' (as her master said) came<br /> from Dunkirke, And saith that the said<br /> Walker nor none of his Company did knowe<br /> or beleeve (as this Deponent beleeveth) that the said<br /> Ship the ''ffortune'' was hired by the Ingin[?eeres GUTTER]<br /> or other Officers of Dunkirke in the service of<br /> this Commonwealth to fetch Lyme or other necessar[?ies GUTTER]<br /> for the service of this Comonwealth, from<br /> Dover to Dunkirke, but saith that the said [?VerXXX GUTTER]<br /> at the time of the said Seizure did say hee was<br /> bound to Dover to take in Lyme or Chalke, and<br /> carry the same to Dunkirke, but did not say by<br /> whom hee was Imployed that this Deponent knoweth<br /> of. And further cannot Answer./. To the 3d hee saith the said ''Peter'' did not weare the<br /> English Colours at the time of the seizure [?of ?the GUTTER]<br /> said ship, but wore them before, but not on the<br /> Day the ''ffortune'' was taken to the best of this Deponents<br /> knowledge./: To the 4.th hee saith hee was not present nor did see the said [?Commission GUTTER]<br /> signed or sealed, and saith hee sawe the same aboard<br /> either about an hower before or an hower after [XXX GUTTER]<br /> seizure, and further saving as aforesaid cannot [?answer GUTTER] To the 5.th hee saith hee knoweth not how much the<br /> said ship ''ffortune'', and her tackle and furniture<br /> were worth the time Interrate.
