Ad primum rendit that the Interrate ship the ''Piper'' Paul Volkers Master is of<br />
100 lasts burthen as hee beleives, and saith that hee this deponent first knew her and came<br />
on board her at Ostend the 23th of March last new stile where shee<br />
lye for about a yeere before as twas sayd, and saith that from Ostend he<br />
went to Bourdeaux where shee was bound as this deponent and company at first [?XXX]<br />
to Ostend although the Master when hee met with the Caper that now brought her<br />
in at sea was coming from Bourdeaux declared that shee was bound to London<br />
and saith that the Master told him that the said ship belonged to [?ZXXX]<br />
and otherwise hee knoweth not and saith that hee never heard the [?names]<br />
of the said Owners and the said shipp as hee heard the skipper saying [?was]<br />
built at Serdam in Holland et alr nescit.
Ad 2:um rendit that hee and the rest of the Company were at Ostend in March last<br />
hired by the said skipper to goe to Bourdeaux and hence to returne backe to Ostend<br />
and this rendents time began the said 23d of March last, and saith that at Ostend<br />
they tooke in (besides their provisions) only ballast and went in ballast to<br />
Bourdeaux and there the said ship tooke in her full lading of wine<br />
and brandy and nineteene packs of skynns, and saith that one monsieur[?XXXX]<br />
(as hee heard) was concerned in lading the said ship, but who was the [?Lader]<br />
or for whose account the said lading was laded hee knoweth not not knowing as hee saith whether french or [?XXX] are owners [?XXXX]<br />
saith that a young man at Bourdeaux that came about<br />
the said ships lading told him when that ship was lading there that<br />
shee as to goe with her said lading to London, which hee [?XXX]<br />
to this deponent for that hee was the Stiersman of the said ship, but [?told ?XXX]<br />
the rest of the Company. et alr nescit.
Ad 4:um rendit that at the said shipps seizure there were with the skipper and this deponent<br />
eleaven persons onboard besides two passengers Joost Reall<br />
and his wife. Joost Reall is sayd to be a High Jerman from<br />
about Brunswick and his wife is as hee beleeveth is a native of [?XXX]<br />
in fflanders and soe hath heard say and saith that the said skipper is a Lubecker<br />
and this deponent is a native of Holsteyn but under whose jurisdiction hee knoweth<br />
not his father and mother flying from thence with him about 36 yeares<br />
since and they went thence to Copenhagen in Denmarke where hee [?XXXX]<br />
living severall yeers since and where they are living or dead [?XXXX]<br />
but this deponent for his part hath since hee left them (being a<br />
batchelour) had noe fixed habitation, but sometimes [?XXX] in Holland [?and]<br />
sometimes in Hamburg or Lubck and sometimes in fflandrians (sic) where hee XXXX<br />
got the best Imployment and saith that the others are two of<br />
Norway about foure Swedes one (towit the boy) a Hamburger and [?the]<br />
Boatswaine did [?alwaies] said live here but now lives in fflensborow in [?Holsteyn]<br />
and one Bremer and never a Hollander or ffrenchman of [?his ?XXX]XX<br />
