Super allegacione arlate ex parte [?XXXX] [?Anderson]<br /> et serorum dat examinatus '''jus''' '''Rolandus Carr''' de Sheild in Comitatis Palatinate<br /> [?XXX] Nauta, asetatis 34 annorum aut<br /> eo circiter testis productus et iuratus. Ad primum et secundum arlas dicta allegationis deponit et dicit that<br /> hee well knoweth the shipp the ''Speedwell'' arlate and hath soe done for theise foure<br /> yeares last or thereabouts during which space, untill shee was taken<br /> by a pirate (as hereafter followeth) hee this deponent was master of<br /> her, and saith that the producents Robert Anderson, Arne Carr and<br /> company (who are all well knowne unto him) have bin for all the time<br /> arlate and are and ought to be the true and lawfull owners and<br /> proprietors of the said shipp and of her tackle and furniture and<br /> soe commonly accompted, and that in the moneth of August last<br /> past the said shipp or barke being in her course from<br /> London for Newcastle (whether shee was bound) was mett with surprised<br /> and taken by a pyrat or sea rover and carried to Newport<br /> in fflanders where this deponent (her master) and company were<br /> put out of possession of her, they being carried thether in her.<br /> Et alr nescit deponere, salvis subscripte.
