Transcription To the first hee saith and deposith that sTo the first hee saith and deposith that such Certificates <br /> as are sent from the Customes house heere as aforesaid are<br /> to this deponents certaine knowledge kept and doe <br /> remaine in the Customdie of the said Judge of the countra-<br /> banda or of some other officer of his for he the said Judges<br /> security and descharge, and saith they are not in the <br /> [?] of and English Merchant there nor can such merchants<br /> have the same when they please; And hee further deposith <br /> that by letters of Advice hee hath bin allsoe informed that<br /> the said Generall of the Canary Islands doeth approveed[?] with<br /> such Rigour and vialence[?] against the said English Merchants<br /> at the Canarise that hee will not admitt them to have and <br /> Counsill to advise with, nor to have any legall proceeding<br /> that hath fired[?] and punished one Counsillor [?]<br /> there, for drawing and subscribing a potion[?} for them<br /> in so much that all [?} are hereby deterred[?] and frightened<br /> from undertaking any thing for the advantage of the said <br /> English Merchants. and further he cannot depose. To the last Intirrie hee saith and deposith that the letter<br /> to the Interrogatories annexed and with this deponent <br /> hath now seene and perused it as hee verily beleeveth<br /> signed and subsribed by all of the English <br /> merchants now used[?] but att the Canaries of any quality<br /> And as he saith was his sent from them to theire Corrispondents<br /> heire in England to hhim and theire present [?] might <br /> bee hereby made knowne and manifested the Contents<br /> whereof this deponent saith hee doeth verily believe in<br /> his [?] were and are true and soe had and done<br /> as therein is sett forth and declared. with hee the rather<br /> is indured to believe because hee hath seene other letters<br /> from the same place importing and lending to be[?] [?]<br /> offer[?] and purpose.
