Smith}<br /> Francklin.} '''[?XXXX]''' '''jus./''' '''Jacob Van: Brooke''' of the Citty of Hamborough<br /> Marriner and master of the said shipp the ''Saint John Baptist'' aged<br /> 40 yeares or thereabouts sworne and Examined To the first article of the said Allegation hee saith and deposeth That hee this<br /> Deponent well knoweth the arlate John Temmincke and hath soe done by<br /> the space of theise twenty yeares last past and upwards<br /> dureing all which tyme hee the said John Temminck hath bene and<br /> at present is a Merchant of good Esteeme and quality in Hamborough from<br /> whence within these twelve monethes last past of this deponents knowledge hee<br /> hath used to trade french Commodityes and to that purpose hath his factor[?s]<br /> or correspondents there resident And for such a person and soe tradeing<br /> hee the said John Temincke was and is comonly accompted and reputed<br /> which hee knoweth because hee this deponent within the said space of theise 12<br /> moneths last past hath by the said producent bin imployed with the<br /> ship the ''Saint John Baptist'' whereof hee is master from Hamborough<br /> into ffrance upon a tradeing voyage and hath allsoe knowne both this yeare and<br /> severall other yeares past severall other ships from tyme to tyme imployed<br /> by the said Temmincke from Hamborow into ffrance, which have carryed<br /> goods thither and from thence brought the proceede thereof to Hamborough from his<br /> the said Temmincks correspondents at Bayon and other places in ffrance.
