To the 1 he saith he comes to be a witnes att the Request of Mr Elrock a merchant<br />
of the Citty, and was severall tymes aboard the sayd shipp att Messina in<br />
the monthes aforesayd or about that tyme, upon occasion of seeing her<br />
and freinds aboard her being an English shipp, and the Respondent an<br />
Englishman, and saith he hath noe manner of relation to Mr Beale aforesayd
To the 2d he saith that the sayd Edward Beale as hee credibly heard and<br />
beleiveth did that the sayd shipp to [ffreight] in the year 1650 on a voyage<br />
from Messina to Constantinople and back againe to Messina, and saith<br />
the sayd voyage was in the summer tyme 1650 as he remembreth<br />
and otherwise cannot depose.
To the 3d he referreth himself to his foregoeing depositions and otherwise<br />
negatively.
To the 4th hereferreth himself to his foregoeing depositions and otherwise <br />
negatively.

sworene and examined deposeth and saith as<br />
followeth. videlicet.
To the first article of the sayd Allegation, This deponent saith that he never<br />
was in ffrance in all his life, and saith he never did nor doth know, nor<br />
ever was accquainted with the person or persons to whom any of the<br />
sayd shipp the ''Unicornes'' lading now in controversy was consigned,<br />
to be delivered att Havre de Grace, nor did this deponent to the best of<br />
his knowledge ever see or speake with the sayd person, or persons or any of<br />
them, being indeed wholly and altogether ignorant of them and not knowing<br />
these persons. And saith by vertue of his oath, that he never was told<br />
or made accquainted by any the laders of the sayd Goods or by any<br />
other person that the same goods, or any part thereof did or doe belong<br />
to any ffrenchman or ffrenchmen living in Havre de Grace Roane<br />
or any other parte of ffrance whatsoever. And further he cannot depose.
To the second article of the sayd allegation This deponent saith and deposeth, That<br />
he this deponent for his parte did never see or heare of any order or direction<br />
