of the fortresse of Cadiz, And othwrwise hee cannot depose, saving hee<br />
beleeveth that by Henry Luck interrate, this deponent is intended,<br />
being his name.
To the 9th hee saith that the bills of lading found in the said shipp for the goods were signed ashore at Cadiz and those for [?XXXX] were<br />
as he remembreth signed aboard the said shipp<br />
in the bay of Cadiz, and that hee signed two other bills of lading of one<br />
tenor of each of these to [?carry] aboard, and being thre for each parcell, and<br />
did not signe any other bills of other tenor, or more than the saud three<br />
for each parcell, and having signed the same and as hee signed them hee<br />
kept one by order of the lader for each parcell, and brought to the<br />
lader or such imployed by him to bringe the goods and money aboard,<br />
and that the said bills of lading taken in teh said shipp were never<br />
out of this deponents custodie that hee remembreth, till the sizure<br />
thereof by the shipp of this Commonwealth, And otherwise referring<br />
himselfe to he said bills, hee cannot depose.
To the 10th hee saith that the said bills when the said shipp ws seized<br />
were all together in a bundle or letter case aboard, only hee beleeveth<br />
that for the sugar bill is in a letter<br />
to ffrancis Sloyer to whom the same is consigned to Hamburg<br />
and that hee knoweth not otherwise for whose accompt the<br />
said goods and silver are than by the said vills of lading whereunto<br />
hee referreth himselfe, saving such as are belonging to him and<br />
company as aforesaid.
To the 11th hee saith that hee kept noe booke being a badd writer, but tooke only a little<br />
note in a paper of the goods as they came aboard, which hee beleeveth<br />
is amongest the papers seized, referring himselfe to the bills and<br />
papers seized, and otherwise hee cannot depose saving the said<br />
note is very short and not soe full of particulars as the bills<br />
to his remembrance, and saving hee had noe Purser.
To the twelfth hee saith hee began to take in his lading about the<br />
24th of September and ended the same in a monethes space or thereabouts<br />
finishing on or about the 20th of October last, and that hee tooke<br />
in his wooll at once as fast as hee could stowe, and the campecha<br />
and figgs the like.
To the 13 and 14 hee saith hee knoweth not whether it be possible<br />
or not to carry silver in a shipp from Spaine without license, hee<br />
having bin at Cadiz but one before this voyagem and then taking none<br />
at all aboard; and the quantitie aforesaid which hee hath [?XXX]<br />
is soe small, that hee was not occasioned to informe himselfe<br />
whether it was unlawfull to export it or not. And otherwise hee<br />
cannot depose.
To the 15th hee saith that none of the said money belongeth to [?any]<br />
owners of the said shippp or any of them, and that there is noe [?and ?XX ?but]<br />
what there are bills of lading aboard for some.
