Transcription To the fifth article of the sayd allegatioTo the fifth article of the sayd allegation he saith It is notorious that the sayd shipp<br /> and lading was seized by some of the shipps of this Commonwealth, and as<br /> he hath credibly heard in her Course betwixt Cadiz and Ostend, And<br /> otherwise cannot depose. To the sixth article of the sayd allegation This deponent saith that the arlate Paulus<br /> Cobrisse by common repute is a fflandrian borne, and was and is a merchant<br /> of and Inhabitant in Bridges where and in Spaine he hath lived<br /> for theis 12 yeares last past and upwards which this deponent<br /> knoweth having for all the sayd tyme bene his Correspondent And<br /> otherwise cannot depose To the seventh Article of the sayd allegation he saith he cannot depose<br /> otherwise than as aforesad. To the eighth he saith his depositions are true. To the Crosse Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING] To the 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. and 7. Interrogatories he saith he noe way belonged to the sayd shipp the<br /> voyage in question, nor was in her, nor att Cadiz nor saw the sayd sylver or moneys<br /> laden, nor the sayd bills of lading signed; And otherwise saving his foregoeing<br /> depositions wherein he hath sett forth his knowledge and beleife in this matter<br /> he cannot depose saving that Pedro Calvo interrate lives att Cadiz and hath<br /> bene knowne by Correspondencyes to this deponent for 7 or 8 yeares now<br /> past, and saving that the foresayd bills of lading are true and reall<br /> as he beleiveth. and saving that he knoweth not Peter Navarro. To the 8th. 9th and 10th: he saith he knoweth nothing thereof. To the .11th. negatively for his part. To the 12. 13. and 14th. Interrogatories he saith<br /> that the sayd Pedro Calvo whom this deponent understands to be the principall<br /> Lader of the sylver now claymed, is the factor of the sayd Paulus Cobrisse, and<br /> hath as he beleiveth generall Order to remitt to the producent the proceed of<br /> his goods in plate, and saith the sayd Pedro Calvo had divers effects in his hands<br /> of great value of the manufacture of England sent to him by this Rendent from this port of<br /> London in the yeares 1648 and 1649. in severall shipps to Cadiz from the producents<br /> Accompt. that is to say. 29. bales of Norwich stuffes, bayes, perpetuanaes and some<br /> woorsted stockins of the cleane value of .2462. ''li'' 1. ''s'' 10. ''d'' sterling laden aboard the ''Sampson''<br /> of Hamburgh Otto George Commander about September 1648. and 21 bales more<br /> of bayes, and .6. trunkes of stockins of the cleane value of 2476. ''li'' 15. ''s'' 8. ''d''<br /> laden aboard the ''Culpepper'' John Thomas Commander, about the moneth of October<br /> 1648. and 25 bales more of stuffes and bayes of the cleane value of 2222. ''d'' sterling laden about Januart 1649 part aboard the shipp ''Confidence'' Thomas [?CromXX]<br /> Commander, and part-aboard the ''Maidenhead'' James Lutton Commander [?a ?part XX]<br /> whereof faithfully extracted out of this deponents Leiger (sic) he hath formmerly left<br /> in the Registry of this Court videlicet upon his examination in the oroducents clayme<br /> for his sylver and moneyes in the ''Sampson'' Otto George Master. And otherwise<br /> he cannot depose. To the .15th. Interrogatory he saith he is a native and an Inhabitant of this City of<br /> London. and otherwise negatively being noe wayes related to the producent not having any<br /> Interest att all in the sayd sylver or moneyes now Claymed. To the .16th. Interrogatory negatively. To the 17. 18. 19 and 20th. he saith he knoweth nothing thereof. To the 21. negatively. To the .22. he saith he cannot depose otherwise than as aforesaid.
