Budd} '''1us./''' '''Peter vander wyer''' of Dunquirke Merchant<br /> aged 26 yeares or thereabouts sworne and examined. To the first article of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth that hee well knoweth<br /> the producent John Bollart and hath soe donne for theise fifteene yeares last<br /> past, and saith hee is a Merchant of Antwerp and driveth a greate trade<br /> to Cadiz and Saint Lucars in Spaine, and hath used and doth use to sende diverse<br /> and greate quantities of Merchandizes from Ostend and from Dunquirke<br /> since the same retourned into the Saniards hands, to Spaine for his owne<br /> accompt and adventure, and hath diverse factors, and correspondents in<br /> Cadiz, Saint Lucars, Sevill and other parts of Spaine who negotiate and<br /> act his merchandizing affaires and sell and dispose his goods sent unto them<br /> and make his retournes into fflanders, and for and as such a person as<br /> aforesaid hee the said John Bollart hath bin and is commonly accompted<br /> and reputed for diverse yeares last past, all which hee knoweth having bin<br /> servant unto and dwelt sixe or seaven yeares in house with him the said<br /> John in Antwerp, ended about [?8] yeares since, and having since frequented<br /> his house and having donne and doing businesse for him as his correspondent<br /> and this deponent having lived in Spaine did his businesse for him there<br /> as his correspondent in merchandize, and knewe the said producent living<br /> in Spaine formerly, whence this deponent came in his company, and<br /> otherwise hee cannot depose. To the second article hee saith and deposeth that the said John Bollart<br /> hath frequently for diverse yeares last past had the retournes of his goods<br /> sent thither made back to him in silver by his factors there both to<br /> fflanders and diverse times formerly to Dover and this port of London<br /> and very greate parcells of barrs of silver, plate and peeces of eight<br /> have formerly bin received for the accompt of him the said John Bollart<br /> in the said ports of Dover and London by merchants living in this Nation,<br /> and particularly by Mr Castel and other marchants of this citie, and the<br /> retournes thereof have bin made him either into fflanders by exchange or<br /> by goods as perpetuana's, bayes, and other manufactures and goods of this<br /> nation sent for his accompt for Spaine and for the more particula[?rities]<br /> of time hee saith that in the yeare 1638 and for foure or five yeares next<br /> following there were there were greate quantities and summes of money and<br /> plate sent to the said ports in England for his accompt, all which hee<br /> knoweth because hee this deponent then dwelt with him, and was in<br /> his counting house and accustomed to write his letters and to receive and<br /> be acquainted with the contents of theise sent unto him, and privie to<br /> his said trade, and this hee saith was and is true and notorious, And<br /> otherwise hee cannot depose. To the third article hee saith and deposeth that in the yeares 1651 and 1652 and<br /> monethes therein concurring the said producent John Bollart sent from<br /> Ostend and of late from Dunquirk diverse and sundry parcells of goods<br /> and merchandizes for his owne accompt to Gerrard Riper.
