Transcription To the Crosse Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEATo the Crosse Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING] To the first negatively. To the 2d he saith he knoweth not Abraham van Hembecque by sight but hath<br /> knowne him by correspondencyes about five yeares, and saith John Baptista<br /> [?Stem] is a supposed feigned name, and ffrancis Sierpe he hath knowne<br /> about twlve yeares and saw him in Companie with this deponent and John<br /> Martins att Cadiz the tyme interrate. and otherwise negatively. To the .3.d he saith that Lorenzo de Veles did lade the aforesayd six barretons of<br /> sylver and made use of the feigned name of John Baptista [?Stem] in the bills of<br /> lading for the same. and ffrancisco de la Sierpe did cause the two larger<br /> barretons or peices of sylver aforesayd to be laden by his servant, and is a<br /> factor and Correspondent of the sayd van Hembecque, and the sayd<br /> Lorenzo de[?Velles] who made use of the feigned name of John Baptista [?Stern],<br /> as aforesayd is a Correspondent of the sayd producent. and otherwise<br /> negatively. To the 4.th he saith that ffrancisco de la Sierpe for theise 12 yeares hath lived<br /> in Cadiz and his howse is neere the ffranciscans College or Cloyster there. and<br /> otherwise saving his former depositions he cannot depose To the 5th he saith Lorenzo de[?arles] aforesayd a Dunkerker did lade the sayd six<br /> barretons, and ffrancisco de la Sierpe did lade the sayd two large barrs or<br /> peices by his servant called Phillip, and saith the sylver was all laden in the<br /> day time and receyved aboard by the master John Martinsdorp his Purser<br /> being present. And further he cannot depose. To the .6.th he referreth himselfe to his former depositions and further he<br /> cannot depose. To the .7.th he saith the two bills of lading to the allegation annexed are true and<br /> reall and made according to the truth of the matter in all respects saving the<br /> sayd feigned name of John Baptista [?Stern] is used in one of them in the stead of<br /> Lorenzo da Veles who did indeed lade the same. To the 8 and 9th he saith he saw the Purser of the sayd shipp take or make<br /> an entry of the sayd sylver, but what he so wrote in particular he<br /> remembreth not. And further cannot depose saving he saith that he is<br /> sure that the sayd six barrs were laden by Loremnzo de Veles who made use<br /> of the feigned name of John Baptista [?Stern]. and the sayd two barrs he is<br /> assured were laden by the servant of ffrancis de la Sierpe in the bill of<br /> lading for the same. And further cannot depose. To the .10.th he saith he knoweth nothing thereof. To the 11th negatively to every part thereof. To the 12 and .13.th he referreth himselfe to his foregoeing depositions and<br /> further he cannot depose. To the 14th he saith that the sayd Lorenzo de Veles did sell in [?New] Spaine in the<br /> Indies two cases of bone lace this deponent being present with him there<br /> for the Accompt of the sayd Abraham van Hembecque, which effects he<br /> brought to Nova Hispania from Cadiz whither they had bene sent from<br /> fflanders, and with the proceed thereof bought the aforesayd six<br /> barretons or peices of sylver for the producents accompt, and the sayd<br /> bone lace was sold and the barretons bought in the Indies in the yeare 1651.<br /> but the particular tyme or shipp wherein the sayd bone lace came from<br /> fflanders to Cadiz he cannot declare. And further he cannot depose. To the .15th he saith that the sayd Lorenzo de veles and Phillip the servant<br /> of the sayd ffrncisco de la Sierpe and the sayd ffrancisco himselfe did all of<br /> them declare to this deponent att Cadiz that the sayd sylver was laden<br /> for the sayd Producents Accompt. To the .16.th he saith he is a native of [?Bexil] in Spaine and liveth att Cadiz<br /> and saith he hath noe interest of (sic) relation in or to the sayd producent<br /> nor any mannner of interest in the sylver interrate nor will it be any<br /> benefitt to him if the same be restored.; benefitt to him if the same be restored.  +
