Transcription said shipp the ''John'' being fully laden said shipp the ''John'' being fully laden as aforesaid, sett saile and went over the<br /> Barr aforesaid with the first shipps that went or passed over the same<br /> after the time of such her lading, this deponent being for all that time [?XXX]<br /> about the harbour of Porto Port in the quality aforesaid, and thereby [?seeing]<br /> and observing the premisses. And further<br /> cannot depose./:- To the Crosse Interrogatories:- [CENTRE HEADING] To the first hee saith, That as this deponent was informed at Porto<br /> Port aforesaid by the Master and some of the Company of the said shipp the<br /> ''John'' and to and according to the best of this deponents judgement shee being<br /> laden as aforesaid drew the thirteen foot water or upward, And saith<br /> this deponent observed the said hamburgher or fflemish shipp, and what<br /> water shee drew, upon this occasion, that shee being ready to sett saile from<br /> Porta Port this deponent went on board her to send some letters for England<br /> the said shipp being to stopp in the downes, and at that time this deponent<br /> observed her to draw about 10. or 11. foote water, And otherwise negatively<br /> And further cannot depose./ To the 2. Interrogatorie, hee saith the said shipp the ''Porto Port'' [?XXX]<br /> came into the harbour of Porto Port about the 15th day of January<br /> <u>1653</u>. English style, the said shipp being of the burthen of about 200. tunnes<br /> and saith shee was not in a readinesse to depart thence upon the 18.th day<br /> of March interrate. neither did shee passe the barr aforesaid till the<br /> 5th day of May following, for that after shee was fully laden, shee was<br /> necessitated to stay and attend the Merchants that were to come in her<br /> for England. And further cannot depose./ To the 3. hee saith, hee doeth not know or remember that any shipp or<br /> shipps came over the barr of Porto Port upon the day or within that<br /> time interrate And further, saving his foregoeing, deposition hee cannot depose To the 4th hee saith, hee verily beleeveth that the shipp the ''John'' passed the<br /> barr interrate so soone as the first opportunity of wind and water after<br /> her lading would permitt, And otherwise saving his foregoeing deposition hee<br /> saith hee cannot depose./ To the 5th hee saith hee knew the Master of the shipp ''John'' interrate<br /> during the time shee remained at Porto Port aforesaid, and also[?some]<br /> of her Companie of Mariners by sight, And saith hee doeth not<br /> remember to have heard at Porto Port aforesaid any report or [?XXX]<br /> of any such protest as is interrate.
