Transcription salarie or allowance out of such shipps assalarie or allowance out of such shipps as they so conduct, and are<br /> in that respect well knowne to be men very [?cautelous] and circumspect<br /> in such their undertaking, upon which their Creditt and Livelihood<br /> depends, And saith That all the voyages this deponent hath beene at Porto<br /> Port aforesaid, the shipp wherein hee served was usually conducted and<br /> reconducted over the said barr by such Pylotts as by him is predeposed<br /> And further hee cannot depose saving the said barr, the danger in<br /> passing the same, and the use of such pilotts for that purpose<br /> are publique and notoriously knowne to all that frequent the said Port<br /> pf Porto Port/:- To the 15th hee saith, That during the time the said shipp ''John'' being [?XXX]<br /> as aforesaid, and readie to passe the barr of Porto Port, remained there as<br /> predeposed, to the best of this deponents observation the wind still remaineing<br /> contrarie to such her passage for about a moneth together, and that<br /> during that time no shipp of that or the like burthen or draught<br /> of water did or could, as was then generally observed amongst Marchants<br /> there proceed outwards over the said barr. And otherwise saving his<br /> precedent and subsequent depositions hee saith hee cannot depose./: To the 16th hee saith, That during the time of the said shipp the ''John''<br /> remaining at Porto Port aforesaid there was in the same port a shipp<br /> or Vessell of hamburgh (as shee as there reputed) which being laden<br /> with oranges lemmons and other Commodities, and drawing about 10<br /> or 11. foot water according to the then computation, and estimate of this<br /> deponent and others; went from Porto Port toward the said<br /> barr about 4. or 5. daies before the ''Johns'' descent thitherwards, with<br /> designe, as was then and there commonly reported to passe the same, as<br /> having very perishable goods on board her, much whereof was in the<br /> time of her stayeing there throwne overboard being rotten and perishing.<br /> And saith that in this deponents sight the said hamburgher shipp and the<br /> ''John'' aforesaid went over the said barr at one and the same time<br /> And further hee cannot depose./ To the 17th hee saith, That it was generally observed and taken notice<br /> of by this deponent and others, that the said shipp ''John'' after such her<br /> lading at Porto Port as aforesaid was one of the first shipps<br /> of or about her burthen that did or could passe the barr aforesaid<br /> And further cannot depose./ To the18th hee saith, hee knoweth nothing thereof, not being aboard the<br /> said shipp the ''John'' when any such Pilotts, as is arlate were sent<br /> aboard her, nor knowing by any other meanes any certaine knowledge thereof<br /> And further cannot depose./ (To the rest And further cannot depose./ (To the rest  +
