Transcription say that the master of the ''Successe'' (ssay that the master of the ''Successe'' (speaking of the shipp the<br /> ''Successe'' arlate) had challenged him and said that it was his shio<br /> that had over run the ''Successe''; and this deponent hath heard the boy<br /> of the said shipp the ''dove'' say, that the said master of the ''Successe''<br /> had inticed him ashore at Newcacstle, and there [?tampered] with<br /> him to make him say that it was the said shipp the ''dove'' that had<br /> over run his said shipp the ''Successe''. And otherwise hee cannot<br /> depose. To the third hee saith that the said shipp the ''dove'' in her said<br /> voyage to Newcastle became leakie, soe that the master upon his comming<br /> to Newcastle set his owne Carpenters and two others that hee<br /> hired to search her for the leake to stop the same, and that the<br /> said Carpenters dubbing betwixt her wailes to finde out the<br /> leake, found a rotten peace in her [?head], which they cout out and<br /> put a newe peece in the place, and did not mend or repaire<br /> her in regard of any running or comming fowle of any other vessell,<br /> for hee saith shee came not fowle of or touched any in all the<br /> way. And otherwise hee cannot depose. To the fourth hee saith hee never said that the ''dove'' did the<br /> dammage in question or ought to that purpose, for if hee should<br /> soe say hee should as hee saith speake very untruly, And<br /> otherwise saving as aforesaid hee cannot depose. To the Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING] To the first Interrogatorie hee saith there were eleaven<br /> men and two boyes of the said shipp the ''doves'' company the said<br /> voyage To the second Interrogatorie hee saith that the said worke about searching<br /> the said shipp for her leake and of mending her bowe upon that<br /> occasion, was begunn within a day or two after her said arivall<br /> at Newcastle, and the said rotten peece was not espied till<br /> they came to dubb to search for the leake as aforesaid, only her<br /> head had bin washed away in a former voyage, and the same<br /> hath bin repaired since her retourne to London. And otherwise hee<br /> cannot answer saving as aforesaid. To the third Interrogatorie hee saith and deposeth that hee hath<br /> not bin perswaded or willed to speake otherwise than the truth<br /> And otherwise hee cannot depose saving as aforesaid.
