To the 4th Interrogatorie hee saith, That at the time of the Chase interrate the<br />
''Saint Peter'' was as hee remembreth about 2. leagues from the rocks interrate<br />
and saith, That when shee came very neere unto the said rocks shee was towed in<br />
by ffrenchmen with the two shallops predeposed, and by no other boates or men<br />
And otherwise negatively to every part thereof.
To the 5th hee saith, hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition, And<br />
otherwise negatively:-
To the 6th hee saith, the french Pylot interrate in case of the said shipps<br />
arrivall at Pontrieux was to have receaved there, so farr as this rendent<br />
knoweth, and saith hee hath often observed that french Merchants doe procure<br />
and provide Pylotts for the conduct of such shipps as they lade and send on to<br />
the rockie and dangerous Coast of Brettanie. And further otherwise then<br />
negatively hee cannot depose./:-
To the 8th hee saith, hee saw the shott interrate made by the french Pilot<br />
and other frenchmen aboard assisting him./
To the 9th hee saith, hee saw no resistance made against the said frenchmens<br />
entrie into the said shipp, and saith they could easily enough enter the said<br />
shipp without any such assistance as is interrate, And otherwise negatively
To the 10th negatively:-
To the 11th hee saith, hee this rendent and the Master and all the said shipps Companie during the<br />
fight interrate remained in the forepart of the said shipp, and saith the said<br />
Master in the presence of this deponent and said shipps Companie spoke to the<br />
frenchmen aboard requiring and entreating them not to shoot at the said<br />
man of warrL-
To the 12th hee saith, hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition. And<br />
further cannot depose./

examined saith and deposeth as followeth videlicet/
To the first and second articles hee saith and deposeth, That the shipp ''Saint Peter'' in Contro=<br />
versie was seized by an Englishman of warr (Captaine Barnett Commannder)<br />
shee then lyeing at an anchor, and fastned with two roapes to certaine rocks of<br />
a little french Island neere the maine land of ffrance; And further saith, that at<br />
such time as the said shipp came from the River of Bourdeaux to proceed upon her<br />
Voiage to Ponterieux with her ladeing of wynes, and till and at the time that shee<br />
lay fastned to the rocks aforesaid, and till immediately before her seizure there<br />
was a french Pylot sent aboard at Bourdeaux and continuing in and aboard her<br />
being (as this deponent hath often and credibly heard there) expressely sent to take care of the<br />
said shipps ladeing and to Pilot the same to her designed Port of Ponterieux, and that<br />
by the Merchant or ffactors who had laden he said wynes, and not by Leiger<br />
derrickson the Master, neither had the said Pylot any relation at all to the<br />
