Transcription To the first and second articles hee saithTo the first and second articles hee saith hee knoweth nothing thereof To the third and 4th Articles hee saith and deposeth, That in or about the moneth of<br /> November <u>1653.</u> last past hee this examinate by the order and direction and for<br /> the accompt of the lillate Anthony Tether a Merchant of this Citie, and by and<br /> with the expresse Consent and assent of the lillate Richard Bryan Master of<br /> the shipp the ''Julian'' lillate, did send to and cause to be laden and putt on board the<br /> said shipp then lyeing in the River of Thames within and under the jurisdiction<br /> of the high Court of Admiraltie of England, Twelve hogsheads of<br /> Copperes marked and numbred as in the margent containing between three<br /> and foure Tonnes nett to be transported in the said shipp to Roane in ffrance<br /> and there to be delivered according to the direction of the said Anthony Tether, as<br /> hee the said Tether expressed and declaared to this deponent at such time as hee gave<br /> him order to lade the same, And saith this deponent sent the said 12. hogsheads of<br /> Copperes from Saint Saviours docke in a lighter to be laden aboard the said shipp ''Julian''<br /> and after they were received aboard, the Lighter men belonging to the said Lighter<br /> returned and Certified this deponent that the said Bryan and Companie had<br /> received the same into the said shipp. And further to these articles hee cannot<br /> depose./ To the 5th article of the said Allegation hee saith, That the said twelve hogsheads<br /> of CoppereS at the time of such their ladeing as aforesaid were really worth<br /> one with another between fifty shillings and three pounds sterling a hogshead<br /> and after that rate this deponent at or about that time sold 20. hogsheads of the<br /> like Commoditie to the said Anthonie Tether, And further to this article hee<br /> cannot depose./ To the 6th hee saith hee cannot depose.
