by Vertue of his oath, videlicet
To the 7th article of the said Allegation hee saith and deposeth, That upon or about<br />
the seaventh day of August last past as this deponent now remembreth, this deponent<br />
being in the ship the ''William and James'' of Ipswich, departed with and in<br />
the same from Winterton roade bound for New Castle together with some other<br />
English shipps, amongst whom according to common report the ship the ''dove''<br />
then was, and saith the said shipps the night ensueing after the said day of their<br />
departure from Winterton roade aforesaid, and toward the morning of the<br />
ensueing day passed over the place or tract of Sea commonly knowne by the<br />
name of the Well And further hee cannot depose-/
To the 10th hee saith hee hath never heard or understood anything from the<br />
arlate Cable and Companie to the effect arlate. And further cannot<br />
depose-/
Upon the rest hee is not examined by direction of the producent./
To the Interrogatories:- [CENTRE HEADING]
To the first Interrogatorie hee saith hee cometh to declare what hee knoweth<br />
in this Cause at the request of the producent, and hath had 12 ''d'' for his<br />
charges, and otherwise negatively:-
To the second hee saith hee hath seene the ship or Vessell the ''dove'' in question<br />
severall times, and in severall places, but remembreth not particularly when<br />
or where, And otherwise negatively.
To the third hee saith, hee beleeveth the Wells interrate to be about 10. leagues<br />
over, and saith the night interrate of the said shipps passage over it was<br />
not very darke nor very light, And further cannot depose./:-
To the fourth hee saith, hee hath not so deposed./
To the fifth hee referreth himself to his foregoeing deposition. And otherwise<br />
negatively:-/
To the 6th hee saith hee hath not so deposed-/
To the 7th negatively/.
To the 8th hee saith hee can write and reade, but tooke no notice in<br />
writing of the time interrate, And otherwise saving his foregeoing deposition<br />
hee cannot depose./
