Steersman of the sayd shipp the ''Golden tree''<br />
aged two and thirty yeares sworne and examined<br />
saith as followeth videlicet.
To the sayd Interrogatories he saith he knoweth well the sayd shipp<br />
the ''Golden tree'' whereof his precontest Symon Peterson is master<br />
and this deponent is steersman of her and so hath bene ever since<br />
June last when he first came on board the same att Amsterdam<br />
and saith that as ti her home she doth belong to the Port of<br />
Amsterdam where and elswhere in Holland her Owners live but their names he att<br />
present remembreth not. And further saith that her present<br />
lading is salt and not any other goods, and the samw was<br />
laden att Browage in the Kingdome of ffrance where a<br />
factor for the Grand party did for their accompt lade the<br />
same to be carryed to haver de Grace in ffrance and<br />
there delivered for the use of the sayd Grand party, and that<br />
the sayd shipp came last from Brouage and was bound to<br />
haver de Grace aforesayd. And saith he cannot give any<br />
more particular Accompt of the sayd shipp or lading or this<br />
present voyage. Saving that the sayd Vessell hath noe gunns<br />
but hath seven musketts and some powder and ammunition,<br />
three Cables and a peice. three great anchors with a warp<br />
anchor and two sutes of sayles with furniture and<br />
provisions meet for such a voyage.

Cooke of the said shipp the ''Golden Tree'' aged<br />
24 yeares or thereabouts sworne and examined.
To the Interrogatories hee saith that the said shipp the ''Golden Tree'' belongeth to the<br />
port of Amsterdam and that her owners are commonly reputed to be there<br />
dwelling and to be subiects of the States of Holland, and that the Skipper is<br />
one of them, and saith that shee tooke in her lading of salt at Bruage<br />
to be thence carried to and dischardged at haver de Grace, and that it was<br />
laden by a ffrenchman, And otherwise hee cannot depose being only Cooke<br />
of the said vessell and not fully acquainted with the particulars of the<br />
lading, or for whose accompt the same was. Saving hee saith they<br />
had seaven muskets and a birdinge peece and provisions of victualls<br />
for about three weekes time.
