sworne and examined./
To the first article of the said Allegation hee saith and deposeth, That the<br />
arlate Claus Johnson hoone, Albert Jansen Master Shipwright, Peter<br />
Claussen Bowen Martsen Yonge Jan and this deponent all Burghers<br />
of Edam as also this deponents brother John Jansen Scaep also Burgher of<br />
Edam, and Claus Jansen Cornelius Cornelisson, Jacob Petersen Blauw<br />
Cornelius Peterson Blauw, Gerrit Peterson Blauw Peter Peterson<br />
Blauw the elder and Peter Peterson Blauw the younger and Simon Janson<br />
Grootenbroecke Burghers of hoorne in holland, with others their Consorts<br />
Burghers of those respective places and Subjects of the States Generall of<br />
the United Netherlands have from the yeares 1646. last past bin and till this<br />
present are the true and Lawfull Owners and Proprietors of the shipp the ''Scaep''<br />
or ''mutton'' arlate and of her tackle apparrell and furniture, and for and as<br />
such were and are commonly and generally accompted reputed and taken.<br />
The premisses hee well knoweth for that hee this deponent upon the accompt<br />
and by direction of the said Owners caused the said shipp to be originally<br />
built at Edam aforesaid in the said yeare <u>1646.</u> And hath ever since she<br />
was compleated and sett out to sea been Master of and conducted her for<br />
and upon the accompt of the said Owners And further cannot depose./
To the second article hee saith and deposeth, That in or about the moneth of<br />
december <u>1654:</u> last past the said Claus Jonson hoone and Companie<br />
aforesaid did sett forth the said Vessell from Edam to Rochell in ffrance<br />
thence to bring a lading of salt, and gave this deponent a letter of Creditt to the<br />
arlate Isbrant Rodenburgh a hollands factor then residing at Rochell<br />
to furnish this deponent with such moneys as were or might be requisite for the<br />
payment for the said salt, And this deponent with his said shipp safely<br />
arriveing at Rochell delivered the said letter of Creditt to him the said<br />
Isbrandt Rodenburgh, and shortly after went to a place called Souters<br />
about 4. or five leagues from Rochell and there bought and caused to be<br />
laden aboard his said shipp the quantity of thirteen hundred and eighteen<br />
Moyes of salt french measure for and upon the proper accompt and<br />
adventure of the said Claus Johnson hoone and Compsny, and after the<br />
lading of the said salt the said Isbrant Rodenburgh an Amsterdammer upon the accompt aforesaid<br />
paid unto a ffrench Merchant named Monsieur Videau the somme of three<br />
thousand one hundred seaventie and six livers ffrench money or thereabouts<br />
for the salt, which was to be repayd to dirrick Roden[?birch] of Amsterdam<br />
the said Isbrants father by bill of exchange drawne upon the said Claus<br />
Jonson hoone and Companie, The premisses hee declareth and knoweth<br />
