hands before the taking of the said shipp and goods by the<br />
shipp the ''Tyger'' arlate/
To the ninth and tenth articles he cannot depose more or further<br />
then he hath alreasy deposed saving that the sayd Joseph<br />
Perera hath payd and satisfyed this deponent the summes of<br />
money which this deponent did accept of, and which the aforementioned<br />
Roderigues de Morais did draw upon him this deponent for<br />
the accompt of the sayd Perera, which summes of money amounted<br />
to between 400 and 500 ''li'', which he sayth (as the said Perera informed this deponent) was by him<br />
payd for the oyles and other goods aboard the shipp<br />
arlate./
To the 11th he deposeth and saith that the arlate Mr Augustine<br />
Corronell did tell this deponent before such time the arlate shipp<br />
was taken that he the said Corronell had received a Letter<br />
from Perera to make some assurance upon the said shipp and<br />
goods at Londn, And further he cannot depose.
To the 12th he deposeth and saith that he is induced to beleive<br />
upon the advice he received from Perera concerninb the<br />
goods laden aboard the said shipp and upon other [?XXXXXXXes]<br />
that the said goods were laden aboard the said shipp upon and<br />
for the Accompt of the said Perera and some other And that he is to<br />
runne all the hazard and adventure thereof And further<br />
he cannot depose.
To the 13th he saith that he is credibly informed of the sayd<br />
shipps being seized and taken with her Lading by the ''Tyger''<br />
arlate And further he cannot depose
To the fourteenth he saith and deposeth that he well knoweth<br />
the arlate Antonio Rodrigues de Morais having seene him<br />
aswell in ffrance as here in England, and that he is<br />
a Portuguese by birth And he further deposeth that he<br />
alsoe knoweth the kindred and friends of the said de Morais,<br />
And that they are alsoe Portugueses And further he<br />
cannot depose.
To the fifteenth article he deposeth and saith that he the deponent<br />
hath had commerce and trade with the arlate Policarp de Olivares<br />
for about twelve yeares since, and that the said Olivares is<br />
a Portuguese borne, And that the said de Olivares hath bin<br />
for three yeares last past the Agent or Corresponende<br />
of the said Perera in Portugall And further he cannot<br />
depose.
To the sixteenth article he deposeth and saith That for soe<br />
long as this deponent hath knowne the sayd Perera<br />
which hath bin for about 3 or 4 yeares last past the said<br />
Perera hath bin an Inhabitant of Amsterdam, and as he<br />
hath heard a Burger, And further he cannot depose./
To the last he saith his former deposition is true./
To the Interrogatoryes ministred on the behalf of<br />
his highnes the Lord Protector/
To the first Interrogatory he answereth that he is a Portuguese<br />
by birth, that he never saw the interrate shipp the ''Orange tree''<br />
and that he hath noe part, share or interest in the goods interrate<br />
