accompted. and saith That as this deponent then understood and beleeveth the<br />
said Tunns of beere were so sent aboard the said shipp for the use<br />
and provision of the same, but of what valew they were of, or whether the<br />
said Wood and Companie have paid the said hickocks for the same<br />
or what dammage is sustained by default of payment or what other<br />
transactions have passed about it, hee saith hee knoweth mothing thereof<br />
And further referring himselfe to the Acts and proceedings of this<br />
Court, and saying the said Wood is generally reputed an Englishman<br />
and as hee beleeveth is subjecte to the Jurisdiction of this Court, hee saith<br />
hee cannot otherwise depose to the Contents in and of the said<br />

Southwarke Baker aged 50. yeares or thereabouts a<br />
Wittnes sworne and examined saith as followeth videlicet
To the said Libell and articles therein conteyned and schedule thereunto<br />
annexed hee saith and deposeth, That in or about the latter end of the<br />
yeare 1648 and beginning of the yeare 1649. last past, the lilate<br />
William hiskocks and partners were the true Owners and Proprietors<br />
of three and thirty Tunns of bear, which then were valewed at<br />
the rate of three and fortie shillings each tonne, and of three<br />
hogsheads of beare according to the same rate, and of 38 1/2 barrells<br />
of harbor beare and Casks at the rate of 6: ''s'' 6: ''d'' the barrell, Which said<br />
sewerall quantities and sorts of beare were about the time predeposed<br />
delivered and sent aboard the shipp the ''Edward'' whereof<br />
the lilate Wood then was Master for the use and provisions<br />
of the said shipps Companie, and were at the time of such their<br />
delivery worth the sewerall valewes predeposed, and for and after<br />
that rate goods of the like quality were then usually sold, and<br />
beleeveth the same were really used and spent in and aboard the<br />
said shipp, The premisses hee deposeth for that hee this deponent<br />
the time of the said delivery of the goods aforesaid was and still is<br />
a retainer to the brewhouse of the said William Hickocks<br />
and tooke receipts for the said goods from the Cooper that brought them<br />
aboard and saw them delivered out of the said hickocks his<br />
house to the end and use aforesaid, which receipts this<br />
