Clock the next morning, the said place bei … Clock the next morning, the said place being a safe and convenient<br />
place for the moorage of Lighters and where Lighters were and are<br />
usually moored, The premisses hee knoweth for that hee this<br />
deponent as being a Wine Cooper was imployed by the said Mr<br />
Travers in and about the premisses, and saw the said wynes received<br />
in the said Lighter and came up and continued in her for all the<br />
time shee lay so moored as is predeposed. And further saving his<br />
subsequent deposition hee cannot depose:-/
To the third hee saith, That after the said Lighter came and was moored<br />
at Buttolphs wharfe aforesaid having the said wines aboard her<br />
the arlate Pomroy had thereabouts a Lighter of about 80, or 100.<br />
tunns which was there moored and lay a head of the said Tailers Lighter<br />
wherein the said wines were, And saith that the said Pomroy or some<br />
of his Companie that were aboard his said Lighter made[?XXX] and<br />
carelessly veering with the said Lighter with a strong tide of ebb<br />
this deponent and another Cooper then aboard the said Lighter wherein the<br />
said wynes were, did oftentimes crye aloud unto the said Pomroy<br />
or others then aboard his said lighter that they should have a care not<br />
to [?Veere] them, telling them they had a great quantity of<br />
Spanish wynes aboard, and that if they veerd upon them they<br />
would breake their hawser whereby the said Spanish wynes<br />
would in all probability bee lost or very much damnified, The<br />
premisses hee knoweth, for that hee this deponent was present<br />
when the same were soe had and done as predeposed. And<br />
further cannot depose.
To the 4th hee saith, That notwithstanding the calling out as aforesaid<br />
to the said Pomroy and Companie then aboard the said Lighter, and<br />
that hee or some of his Companie heard and understood the<br />
said calling out, yet the said Pomroy or some of his companie<br />
answereing rudely and uncivilly (the particular words this deponent doeth<br />
not now remember) they or some of them did carelessly and wilfully Veere the<br />
said Lighter and in the said Veering first came fowle of and<br />
splitt the shipps boat to which the said Tailors Lighter wherein the<br />
said Spanish wynes were, and broke her hawser and [?XXX]<br />
her adrift, notwithstanding this deponent and all the said Lighters<br />
companie then aboard her used their uttmost endeavour to stopp and<br />
prevent the same. The premisses hee well knoweth as being one<br />
of the said Coopers aboard the said Lighter wherein the said wynes<br />
were, and thereby seeing and observing the premisses. And<br />
further cannot depose:-/
