Transcription To the 5th hee saith, That by reason of thTo the 5th hee saith, That by reason of the said wilfulnes or<br /> neglect and the soe veering of the said lighter and breaking the<br /> hawsor and putting the said lighter with the wynes adrift, one of the said<br /> pipes of wyne was staved and utterly lost whereby the said Travers was<br /> and is in this deponents judgment and estimation really damnified to the valew<br /> of thirtie pounds at least of lawfull English money, a pipe of such<br /> wine being then really worth and usually sold amongst Merchants at that<br /> rate; The premisses hee knwingly deposeth, being an Eye wittnesse<br /> thereof and a Cooper by trade, and soe knowing the valewes of wynes To the 6th hee saith, That the dammage aforesaid was wholely and<br /> solely occasioned by the meanes predeposed:- <br /> To the last hee saith, his foregoeing deposition is true:/ ffrancis Gythens [SIGNATURE, RH SIDE] ******************************* The same day Examined upon the said Libell:- '''2us/''' '''John Bonnett''' of Philpott Lane in London Cooper<br /> aged 28. yeares or thereabouts a Wittnesse sworne and<br /> examined saith as followeth videlicet To the first and 2d hee saith, That in the moneth of January last past this<br /> deponent was aboard a Lighter whereof one Tailor was Master having<br /> severall pipes of spanish wines aboard her, which as this deponent then understood by<br /> his precontest and others then aboard were the proper goods of the arlate Mr Giles<br /> Travers, and saith the said Lighter with wines then lay well and<br /> sufficiently moored in a convenient place at Buttolphs wharfe where<br /> lighters usually lye to bee unladen, and that shee continued there in safety<br /> from about 10. of the Click in the night till about 5. or 6. of the<br /> Clock in the morning about which time the disaster hereafter deduced<br /> did happen, this deponent being then aboard her And futher saving his<br /> subsequent deposition hee cannot depose:-/ To the third hee saith, That hee this deponent at the time aforesaid being<br /> employed upon another lighter which then lay neere the said Tailors lighter<br /> with the said wine, there being then a fire aboard her where hee went<br /> to warme himselfe, and there continued till about five or 6. of the Clock<br /> in the morning, at or about which time another lighter belonging to one<br /> Mr Pomroy of the burthen of about 80. or 100. tonnes and lyeing a head the said Lighter wherein the spanish wynes<br /> were, and carelessly veering with a strong tide of Ebbe, this deponents<br /> precontest and abother Cooper from aboard the said Tailors Lighter did<br /> severall times and earnestly call and crye out to the said Pomroy or Company<br /> aboard his said Lighter to bee carefull in their Veering, for that if they<br /> were not but Veered upon the said Tailors lighter they would breake the<br /> halsor and very much endeanger or damnify the Lading of Spanish wines<br /> which shee had aboard her or words to the like effect, Which thiser or words to the like effect, Which this  +
