Pontrieux to dischardge, and comming neare … Pontrieux to dischardge, and comming neare that port, a small frigot<br />
which they tooke to be English by her English colours which shee<br />
had out, bore upon the ''Peter'', and approaching her and the<br />
''Peter'' approaching the land, certaine ffrench men in two boates came<br />
aboard the ''Peter'' to help hale her in, and made three shotts<br />
(two with and one without bullet) at the said frigot (Leonard<br />
Barnet commander) and afterwards shott with muskets to<br />
hinder the said frigots company from coming aboard the<br />
''Peter'', and the said three shotts hee saith were made before<br />
the frigot shott at the ''Peter'', And otherwise hee cannot depose<br />
aving the said shipp ''Peter'' floated and was fastened<br />
with two towes to the rocks upon the ffrench coast when<br />
shee was taken by the said frigot

sworne before the right worshipfull William Clerke<br />
docter of lawes, one of the Judges of the<br />
high Court of the Admiraltie, saith<br />
and deposeth.
That in order to Enquire<br />
after goods lost out of the said shipp the ''John and Ambrose'' there issued<br />
out of this Court at the instance of the said Thomas ffowell<br />
and others, a warrant directed to this deponent to bringe before<br />
the Judges of this Court one William Moore of Bradwell and<br />
others to be examined touching some of the said shipps goods<br />
said to be in their hands, which warrant this deponent served<br />
upon the said William More on New yeeres day last at<br />
his house in Bradwell aforesaid, and required him by vertue<br />
thereof to come up alonge with this deponent to this Court<br />
or to give him bond for his appearance here, as is usuall in<br />
like cases, both which the said Moore refused to doe<br />
and said hee would not come alonge with this deponent except this<br />
deponent would hire him a horse and put money in his<br />
purse to beare his chardges, and further said that hee<br />
knew well how to answer the matter without coming along<br />
or giving bond for his appearance or to that effect.
