Upon the arlate allegation given in and admitted<br />
on the 21th of November 1655 on the behalfe of<br />
the sayd Beale.

Middlesex Mariner, where he hath lived these eleaven<br />
yeares last past, aged about 36 yeares, a wittnes<br />
produced, sworne and examined he deposeth and saith as<br />
followeth.
To the first article of the sayd allegation he deposeth and saith<br />
That he the deponent was the producent Simon Beale his Mate<br />
in the voyage articulate to Norway and home againe to this Port of<br />
London, and that because he was Masters Mate in the sayd voyage<br />
and was present when the deales arlate were laden aboard the<br />
arlate shipp the ''Providence'' he very well knoweth that the<br />
Nicholas Christianson did as Agent or factor for the arlate<br />
Goodwin and Langdon at Norway lade aboard the said shipp the ''Providence''<br />
the Seales brought home to this port of London for their accompt, and he deposeth that<br />
he was present and heard that when the producent tooke exception<br />
against the receiving aboard the peices of deales the sayd<br />
Christianson made answeare that he the said Beale must take them in, and<br />
thatt he must bee payd for them, and that he the sayd<br />
Christianson had cutt the peices off the whole deales for the<br />
more convenient stowing them aboard the sayd shipp, And<br />
further to the sayd article he cannot depose.
To the last article he saith his former deposition is true./
To the Interrogatories [CENTRE HEADING]
To the first Interrogatory he answereth that he was present and<br />
saw all the deales laden aboard the shipp interrate , and that there<br />
were noe more whole deales brought to the shipps side then what<br />
were taken in by the producent but he saith that some halfe deales and peices were refused And to the rest he answereth<br />
negatively.
To the second Interrogatory he answereth that he saw the greatest part<br />
of the Deales interrate cutt but he kept noe reckoning or account<br />
of the certaine Number of those deales he saw cutt, and he<br />
sayth that they were cutt by the order and directing of Nicholas<br />
Christianson the Agent or factor there of the said Goodwyn<br />
and Langdon, and that the persons that cutt them were danes<br />
and imployed therein by him the said Christianson, And<br />
otherwise he answereth negatively, saving that the sayd Deales were<br />
laden after the rate of sixe score and nor more to the hundred.
To the third Interrogatory he answereth that he the Rendent did<br />
see the greatest part of the deales interrate delivered after her<br />
arrivall here, but that he left the shipp before she was quite<br />
unladen, but he saith that he very well knoweth being Masters<br />
Mate (as he hath predeposed) and present at the lading of the<br />
said deales at Norway, that a long peice and a short peice<br />
were laden by the said Christianson for a whole deale, and<br />
two halfes were laden for a whole deale, And further he<br />
cannot answeare.
