Transcription To the first and second Interrogatories heTo the first and second Interrogatories hee saith and deposeth that<br /> hee well knew the shipp the ''Adventure'' interrogated whereof Thomas Partridge was master<br /> and soe knew her by the space of eight weekes or thereabouts before her<br /> miscariage hereafter mentioned, during which time hee served in her first as<br /> masters mate and then as master, the said Partridge falling sick and staying<br /> ashore at Hull about seaven weekes before such her miscarriage or casting<br /> away, and this deponent thereupon taking charge of her there as master,<br /> and such his sicknesse being very violent and taking him alsoe with a<br /> lamenesse, disabled him the said Partridge to goe in her, and that was the reason of<br /> his not proceeding thence in her and of this deponents taking charge of<br /> her. To the third hee saith the said shipp proceeded from hull to Rotterdam<br /> and thence departed to goe for hartlepoole, but comming about six<br /> leagues off Blakeney on the coast of Norfolke shee<br /> sprunge a leake, which was soe greate and incurable that notwithstanding<br /> her company pumpt eight and fourtie houres with all the pumpes<br /> they could make soe that they were quite tired and spent, yet could they<br /> not possibly cleare her, but shee sunck right downe and<br /> the company saved themselves in the boate, soe that shee perished and<br /> is quite lost, of his this deponents sight being then master and one of<br /> them that soe betooke themselves to the boate, and this hee saith was on<br /> the eighteeneth of July last or thereabouts. To the fourth and fifth hee saith the said Thomas Partridge was<br /> owner of the said shipp wholly, and fitted her out as owner<br /> and this deponent hath seene his bill of sale declaring him to be<br /> sole owner, And saith there was noe part of her tackle furniture<br /> or materialls saved, nor ought that belonged unto her her, saving her<br /> boate, which hee knoweth for the reasons aforesaid.
