late master of the said shipp the ''Seahorse'', aged<br />
56 yeares or thereabouts, sworne as in the acts of<br />
Court and examined upon certaine Interrogatories<br />
saith and deposeth as followeth videlicet
To the first second, third fourth and fifth Interrogatories hee saith and<br />
deposeth that hee well knoweth the said shipp the ''Seahorse'' and hath<br />
soe donne ever since shee was built, which her building was donne at<br />
Rotterdam about three yeares since by the order and [?on] the cost of Michael<br />
de Rutter, Everard [?Ghisling]. Giles Tissen, Adrian Pile, daniel Pile<br />
Simon Beane, Mr Le Pall[?nin], John Blamale, Zacharias Vande Velde<br />
Jacob Van Aspe Myn heer [?CoXX] and him this deponent, which hee<br />
knoweth being imployed by his said felow owners to manage the building<br />
of the said shipp, and laying out and disbursing the charges thereof and<br />
going master of her, being constituted master by the said owners, who have<br />
ever since bin and still are the true and lawfull owners of her and of her<br />
tackle, apparell and furniture, and for such commonly accompted. And<br />
saith they were and are all dutchmen and dwellers and houskeepers in<br />
fflushing where they have all dwelt for all<br />
or the most part of their times, all or most of them being natives of<br />
that place, and that they were and are subiects of the Lords the States of<br />
the United Netherland Provinces. And saith that in or about the<br />
beginning of the moneth of january last (new stile) the said owners<br />
laded the said shipp with a cargo of wine, brandewyn, beare, porke,<br />
beefe, stockfish, oile, and [?tranie] for provisions as alsoe shooes, linnens,<br />
stuffs, and some deales, to be carried and transported to the Charibbe<br />
Ilands and there to be trucked away and disposed of to and for the accompts<br />
of them the said owners, and that on the said voyage the said shipp departed<br />
from fflushing on or about the twelveth of January last (new stile)<br />
and without going to or being in any other port, went directly to<br />
Martinica, where shee arived with the said lading on or<br />
about the twelveth of february last new stile, and there staid about<br />
five sayes, and on or about the 17th of the same moneth shee<br />
went to Gardaloup, and thence went on the 21th of the same moneth<br />
or thereabouts to Monserrat where shee arived the same night<br />
with purpose to inquire and find John Marteson<br />
Merchant who had formerly received goods for the said owners, and<br />
this deponent was to take an accompt of him concerning the disposall<br />
thereof, and this deponent going to Martinica and Gardeloup was to<br />
seeke him, and in case hee could heare noe newes of him nor meete<br />
with him, at Martinica, Gardeloupe nor Mountserrat, then hee [?meant]<br />
to goe to Saint Christofers to seeke for him, and comming to an anchor<br />
in the roade of Mountserrat with purpose in the morning to make<br />
inquire of the said John Martens[?en]m, the ffleete of this Commonwealth<br />
